From Season 3 Makes The Cowboy Monster Its Replacement For The Smiley Creature

Jamie McGuire's Smiley Creature Died In From Season 2

In From season 3, episode 1, "Shatter," The Cowboy Monster seems to take the place of the Smiley Creature as the monsters' de facto leader. This comes on the heels of Smiley's death in season 2. First introduced in "The Way Things Are Now," the second-ever episode of From, the Smiley Creature is one of two monsters that kills Gina (Jessica Barry) and Bing-Qian (Simon Sinn), Kenny's (Ricky He) father, in the clinic. The unsettling figure takes the form of a young man in 1960s-era attire. True to his name, he's always flashing a haunting grin.

New episodes of From season 3 premiere on Sundays on MGM+ through November 24, 2024.

Later on, the Smiley Creature makes a lasting impression in Colony House after a monster called Jasmine convinces a resident to let her inside. Even though the Smiley Creature doesn't make it to From season 2's finale, he leaves a lasting impression on the Township in the show's sophomore outing. After terrorizing bus engers, Smiley is attacked by Boyd, who cuts his own palms, slits Smiley's throat, and mixes their blood together. Smiley continues to grin, but, suddenly, he writhes in pain and dies. This sends a clear message to the other monsters, who seem shocked by their leader's death.
