On cheesy family-friendly sitcoms, characters might not be known for sitting around drinking black coffee and having intellectual discussions. But just like some of the main characters on Full House are brighter and more ambitious than others, their friends, classmates, and love interests are all over the map in of intelligence.
The Full House children got up to a lot of mischief all the time, often with some friends, and it's interesting to rank these minor characters from who has the is a bit dim, to who is thriving in their chosen career.
Kathy Santoni
Kathy Santoni is definitely the silliest secondary character on Full House. D.J. doesn't find her to be very intelligent and says, "Kathy is such a bimbo! She signed up for shop class 'cause she thought it was taught at the mall!"
Kathy's character is very one-note, as she's only on the series to prove that D.J. feels bad about her own physical appearance. Kathy is like a ditzy and popular character on Mean Girls, although her dialogue isn't as clever.
Mickey
Stephanie's antics were hilarious, although she did make some huge mistakes as the show went on.
Much of Stephanie's storylines revolve around the friends that she makes as she's growing up. She wants to be her own person but can't ignore the pressures to be considered cool. Mickey is one friend that Stephanie makes along her journey, and as she's a cool girl who smokes cigarettes, Stephanie is at a crossroads. Since she's making an unhealthy choice and cares too much about what others think, Mickey doesn't come across as very smart or secure.
Gia Mahan
Fans have enjoyed catching up with beloved characters on Fuller House and Gia is someone that fans got to see, all these years later.
Stephanie and Gia become fast pals, but Gia is definitely not the best person for Stephanie to be around. She tries to act older than she is and like Mickey, she's too caught up in what others expect from her. Even when Gia appears on Fuller House she's still making tons of mistakes. Stephanie learns that Gia has a daughter and that she's just as rebellious and poorly behaved as Gia is. Because Gia doesn't really grow up and she doesn't know how to control her own badly behaved kid, she doesn't seem that smart.
Viper
As far as intelligence goes, D.J.'s boyfriend Viper doesn't seem as smart as Nelson, or even as Steve.
While Steve doesn't seem like he has a very high I.Q., it's true that D.J. isn't dating Viper for his smarts. D.J seems interested in Viper for his good looks and the fact that he's a bit of a rebel. She can tell that they're not going to end up together, but she can't help but be interested in him.
Harry
Stephanie is close friends with Harry and in the episode when they have a fake wedding, he proves that he's adorable and innocent, but gets confused sometimes. That makes sense, of course, given his young age.
In the episode "Middle Age Crazy," Kimmy's brother Jimmy marries these two characters, and Harry asks, "Are you sure you know how to marry people?" When Jimmy starts to ask if he will "take" Stephanie (as in, marry her), Harry says, "I'll take her anywhere. After we're married, we can cross the street."
Duane Moffat
Duane Moffat is a strange character who is definitely unique to sitcoms. On the one hand, he doesn't seem to have a lot going on, as no one can get him to say anything except for "whatever." It doesn't seem like he cares about communicating, which is odd, and that word makes him seem lazy and silly.
On the other hand, Duane quotes Shakespeare, which suggests he's smarter than he might appear. As far as intelligent secondary characters go, Duane is somewhere in the middle. He's definitely one of the most confusing things about the sitcom.
Teddy
Teddy is one of Michelle's friends and he seems really smart for a little kid.
He wants to hang out with Michelle even when a friend says it's gross because she's a girl (to which Michelle replies "duh"). He's got high self-esteem and doesn't mind speaking his opinion. Teddy is very logical and practical. When he and Michelle hang out, they often play a game called "house" and Michelle likes playing the dad. Teddy inquires about that, which makes Michelle see that it's sad that she doesn't have a mother. Teddy might be too young to understand the pain that his friend is in, but he has good intentions.
Denise
Michelle's other good pal, Denise, is adorable and hilarious. In the season six episode "The Play's The Thing," Stephanie is helping Michelle practice for the school play, and she counts down "one, two" over and over again. Denise asks "Haven't you heard of three?" which is funny and innocent.
Denise seems like one of the smartest secondary characters on Full House as she isn't ditzy like Stephanie's friends or classmates and she's definitely got more book and street smarts than D.J.'s love interest Viper. It's clear that as she gets older, she'll be even wittier.
Nelson Burkard
Steve and D.J. get back together on Fuller House and long before the Netflix reboot was an idea, D.J. sometimes went out with Nelson.
Nelson is a wealthy kid who seems much nerdier than the other characters. He's smart enough to know that D.J. is the perfect girl for him, and he doesn't want to let her go. Nelson is always trying to be romantic and going above and beyond what a high schooler should do, like when he gets Frankie Valli to sing to D.J. in the season eight episode "D.J.'s Choice." While he should probably learn to dial it back, he can set a goal and stick to it, and that shows intelligence. He also seems like someone D.J. can have a real conversation with.
Vicky Larson
Danny and Vicky met on Danny's TV show as Becky was on mat leave. They didn't get along at first but eventually realized that sparks were definitely flying.
Of all the secondary characters on Full House, Vicky seems like the most intelligent. She's surviving (and thriving) in the busy and tough world of morning television, for one thing, and she lands some amazing jobs because of how good she is. She and Danny keep dating when she moves to Chicago, but a job beckons her to New York City, where she ends up. She's determined to do well in her career and has a kind and logical personality. Vicky and Danny aren't the most popular pair on Full House, as fans love Becky and Jesse, but they still have an interesting love story.
