Ghosts recently wrapped up its first season; the episodes provided many comedic and memorable storylines as Sam gained her ability to see ghosts and subsequently got to know her new home's inhabitants. The ghosts, as well as Sam and her husband Jay, have faced some learning curves, especially as Sam and Jay have worked to turn the manor where the ghosts reside into a B&B.

The ghosts are vastly different in personality and background given that they all lived in different time periods, making for hilarious situations and characters alike.  Their culture and personality clashes have made the characters stand out, and audiences look forward to seeing more of them in the second season.

Sasappis

Sasappis sitting by a fire in Ghosts

Sasappis has a dry, witty humor about him. He's never short on sarcastic comments; he and Friends could certainly have a great time whipping up comebacks and jokes. He's also a gifted storyteller; though he and Sam had creative differences when they teamed up to write something for the B&B's website, it led to him being able to use his gift for the first time.

His lack of patience for things like Pete's lecture on Meatballs is also a funny part of his character, as he used the fact that Pete had feelings for Alberta to avoid such a lecture. In any case, his sarcasm and creativity go well together.

Jay

Jay working on something with Hetty in the background in Ghosts

Jay is fun and laid back, and he's also a great rock for Sam to lean on, especially when she discovers she has the ability to see and hear ghosts after an accident. Jay, though he is unable to communicate with the ghosts, befriends them through Sam and watches basketball games with Pete, and even is inadvertently possessed by Hetty at one point.

He's funny, he helps Sam come up with an excuse on the spot whenever they have company and strange things are going on, and it's pretty funny how invested he got into playing Dungeons and Dragons with the ghosts, using Sam as a translator.

Pete

Pete smiling and talking in Ghosts

Pete is selfless, innocent, cheery, and kind. Unfortunately, the other ghosts tend to take advantage of him, and Pete also has a tendency to not speak up for himself. However, his moments of humor are certainly underrated. Among his greatest comedic scenes are when he decided to pair up with Nancy, a ghost that resides in the basement, in order to hide the fact that he had feelings for Alberta.

He endured a pretty torturous fake relationship with Nancy, going to extreme lengths to accomplish his goal, and audiences couldn't help but sympathize and laugh at the misadventures of his time with Nancy. Although, Nancy did get Pete to stand up for himself. While he prefers keeping the peace among his friends, it was an important lesson for him to speak up and voice his opinion from time to time.

Sam

Sam smiling in Ghosts

Sam is cheery, creative, and impulsive; when she found out she'd inherited Woodstone Manor, she immediately wanted to turn it into a B&B with her husband, Jay. Once she has her accident and subsequently discovers she has the ability to see and hear ghosts, Sam immediately finds herself in all kinds of awkward situations, between mistaking the living for ghosts and being forced to solve disputes and grant requests for the ghosts.

These instances land her in many uproarious storylines, which are further made funny by her husband Jay who tries coming up with an explanation for her odd behavior on the spot for any living people present. She and Jay are a great duo, both bringing something to the show and to each other.

Flower

Flower smiling in Ghosts

Flower has a kind, cheerful personality. She also tends to be quite forgetful and gets distracted easily, not unlike Dory of Finding Nemo, which are a big contributing factor to her entertainment value. When Flower recounts the bank robbery she once participated in, the flashback shows how she gave away not just the name Flower, but her real name of Susan, as well as showed her face, which are definitely two major infractions in a bank robbery.

She also tends to miss or otherwise not make clear to others certain key points of conversation, which leads to hilarious misunderstandings, especially when she and Thor were interviewing the other ghosts to be the potential third person in their budding relationship.

Trevor

Trevor smiling in Ghosts

The fact that Trevor is always without pants alone is a comical running gag for his character. Actually, Trevor has no pants for a good and kind reason, as audiences found out in "Trevor's Pants", lending his pants to a former coworker who otherwise had to face a sort of initiation without them. Trevor is always up for jokes, and he definitely loves to tell tales about his partying days.

His energetic and fun personality makes him stand out among the ghosts, though he does tend to get on Hetty's nerves from time to time. His attempts to communicate with the living through his ability to move things around also causes some entertaining storylines, like the time he accidentally erased Sam's work on her computer, much to his horror.

Alberta

Alberta looking ahead in Ghosts

Alberta is witty and vivacious; she's a gifted singer, a natural entertainer, and she definitely loves a good drama. Alberta's always down to get involved with the happenings of the living, considering her afterlife boring. She loves recounting stories from her life, and she was thrilled when a fan of hers appeared, letting Sam and Jay know that he was writing a biography on her.

She got a taste of what Sam's life is like taking requests from the ghosts when she finds out she is the only one the Alexa will listen to, and she tells her fellow ghosts which requests she is taking and when she is officially off the clock.

Nancy

Nancy smiling at a smiling Pete in Ghosts

Nancy is funny on several levels. She's not afraid to say things like they are or to make biting comments, especially to Stuart, one of the other cholera victims that she lives with in the basement.

In the season finale, she and Stuart argue over the type of wood in the house and she doesn't hesitate to tell him that he's pissing her off over how wrong he is about the wood, and she's told her fellow cholera ghosts that she finds it boring in the basement because all they do is discuss the water heater. Nancy also shakes things up by volunteering to be Pete's fake girlfriend, and goes to hilarious extremes to fit into the role and reap the benefits, much to Pete's horror.

Thorfinn

Thorfinn sitting outside in Ghosts

The manner in which Thorfinn speaks is both adorable and funny; he's definitely a Viking! He inserts memorable comments into conversation, and his larger-than-life personality is unforgettable. The time he accidentally set the gazebo on fire and attempted to cover it up was definitely one of his best comedic moments, as was his obsession with binge-watching reality shows alongside Sasappis and discovering products like Alexa.

In the season finale when Thorfinn itted to placing a Norse curse on Sam and Jay, he tells them the ingredients, like sugar and cinnamon, to break the curse believing they will be hard to attain. He is shocked when the couple gets the items easily without any extensive voyage, declaring the two should just sell the supplies and take the money given those ingredients were worth a lot in Thorfinn's time.

Hetty

Hetty sitting on a bed in Ghosts

Hetty has had several hilarious moments throughout the first season. She accidentally possessed Jay at one time, and went overboard in trying, and actually tasting, all the foods she hadn't had since her death. When she thought it might be possible to possess Jay again, she didn't hesitate to stay nearby just in case.

Her old-fashioned way of thinking, especially where it concerns women, is both interesting and entertaining at times given the differences between the time she lived in and the present, and because the two can sometimes clash. Plus, when it looked as though Hetty had the power to send fellow ghosts to Hell (after watching Hetty's former husband disappear), Hetty began using her newfound "power" jokingly, finding she enjoyed messing with her fellow ghosts.
