Summary

  • Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga focuses on the titular character's backstory before Fury Road, with Max taking a backseat.
  • The film offers a chance for the franchise to move in new directions, introducing colorful characters in a vibrant wasteland.
  • The star-studded cast includes Anya Taylor-Joy as Furiosa, Chris Hemsworth as Dementus, and Tom Burke as Praetorian Jack.

A prequel to the wildly popular post-apocalyptic movie Mad Max: Fury Road, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga boasts a star-studded cast including Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth. Coming from legendary Australian director George Miller, the film focuses on the titular character and explores her backstory before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road. Unlike the previous installments in the Mad Max franchise, Max Rockatansky doesn't play a significant role in the spinoff prequel, with Furiosa taking center stage.

With a new character claiming the focus, the plot of Furiosa offers the Mad Max franchise a chance to move in an entirely new direction. The Wasteland of the Mad Max series is more colorful than many nuclear-ravaged movies, with the orange/blue-hued backdrop populated by lewdly-named, viscerally distinct characters. Furiosa deepens this further, putting familiar faces played by a mix of new and returning actors alongside some intriguing new road warriors. Here's where you've seen those actors before.
