Warning: Contains a preview for Sins of Sinister: Dominion #1A terrifying mash-up of Sins of Sinister X-Men event has seen Nathaniel Essex rewrite the timeline in his image, creating a dynasty that stretched for a thousand years. All good things must come to an end, and in a first look at April’s Sins of Sinister: Dominion #1, readers witness the end of Sinister’s reign–as well as a Spirit of Vengeance Galactus.
Marvel's website unveiled a special, unlettered four-page preview of the issue, which will be written by Kieron Gillen and drawn by Lucas Werneck and Paco Medina. In addition to the Ghost Rider/Galactus mashup menacing a space station, the first look includes Professor X, corrupted by Mister Sinister, driving a tank over praying acolytes. Finally, Mother Righteous, the magic-wielding clone of Mister Sinister, roams a massive library, before turning to face the audience. Since the preview was unlettered, there was no context for either the Ghost Rider/Galactus mashup or for the epic but disturbing scene of Professor X running over people in a tank, leaving fans to speculate until the issue hits shops in April.
The arrival of the Ghost Rider Galactus heralds the end of the Sins of Sinister event. For the past several months, Mister Sinister has been working behind the scenes to remake reality in his image. Sinister has succeeded beyond his wildest dreams, creating a universe where its greatest heroes have been corrupted and bent to Mister Sinister’s will. The galaxy under Sinister’s thumb is a bleak and hopeless place. However, Sinister has realized now what a nightmare his dream of domination was–and is now working to end it. Somehow, this Spirit of Vengeance Galactus figures into his plans, but it's unclear how.
A Ghost Rider/Galactus Mash-Up Is Downright Terrifying
The thought of a Galactus/Ghost Rider mashup is a terrifying one. On his own, Galactus is one of Marvel’s most powerful characters, an awe-inspiring cosmic force that works to balance the universe–yet when super-charged with the power of a Spirit of Vengeance, he becomes downright horrifying. Galactus’ head is gone, replaced by Ghost Rider’s signature flaming skull. Behind him is a giant space station. Galactus is also surrounded by planets, making readers believe that his cosmic hunger has not been satiated by his transformation. As a Spirit of Vengeance, Galactus will have access to Ghost Rider’s Hell Fire, which he could potentially use to consume worlds. If this Hell-Fire was charged with the Power Cosmic, Galactus could consume planets much faster, and wreak greater havoc across the universe.
The biggest question is: how exactly does this terrifying mash-up factor into Mister Sinister’s plans? Is he somehow responsible for its creation? Mother Righteous, one of Sinister’s clones, deals in magic; furthermore, she recently merged Banshee with the Spirit of Variance, creating Vox Ignis. The Spirit of Variance is an offshoot of the Spirits of Vengeance, hinting that Mother Righteous could somehow be behind Galactus' terrifying transformation. Whatever the case, as Sins of Sinister comes to its end, there is a new Ghost Rider/Galactus mashup in the Marvel Universe–one that promises to make a huge impact on the event.
