Spoilers for Thor #30 by Marvel Comics
Marvel Comics is hinting at the origins of a secret seventh Infinity Stone, which could be tied to Galactus. In Thor #30 by Marvel Comics, the God of Thunder learns his grandfather Bor kept the shell of the Galactus Seed used to create the universe. However, in planting and burning the seed to harness the energy of death, Bor's reckless actions seemed to create an all-new Infinity Stone that harnesses the power of the dead called the Black Stone.
Thor #30 by Torunn Gronbekk, Nic Klein, Matt Wilson, and VC's Joe Sabino from Marvel Comics, Thor continues his search for his kidnapped sister, Laussa, venturing inside a forbidden wasteland in Asgard corrupted by chaotic magic and death. He learns that his grandfather Bor battled Thanos, who sought power from the Asgardian god. The Valkyrie Runa explains to Thor that Bor's sorcerers theorized the soul could be pulled to pieces and be reused, as the spiritual energy of the dead could be harnessed and turned into something new. Runa reveals it takes "great power" to turn the soul into pieces, sharing that Bor used the Galactus Seed as "tinder," recklessly burning it within the deep Eternal flames of the mountain. As a result, he appears to have created Marvel's seventh Infinity Stone, the Black Stone.
The Galactus Seed Is Incredibly Powerful
The Galactus Seed was created by Eternity, as Bor planted it to create the current Marvel Universe and spring the World Tree. Galactus sought the Galactus Seed, which represented the beating heart of the universe, himself, as it could have satiated his hunger, but Thor's grandfather beat him in using it. However, readers just learned Bor didn't stop there, as he used the remnants of the Galactus Seed in a major mistake by the Marvel god.
The revelation Bor kept the shell of the Galactus Seed and used it to try to harness the energy of the dead is a significant revelation, as it appears directly connected to the creation of Marvel's seventh Infinity Stone - as it would also explain why Thanos went back in time and tried to get the Black Stone before it was planted. With Galactus and Thanos both seeking out the Galactus Seed and Black Stone, it's easy to understand how powerful it could be.
The Galactus Seed Could Explain The Deadliest Version of Thanos
It remains to be seen whether the Black Stone will be uncovered and whether the darkest version of Thanos from Thor's visions will be released in the Marvel Universe. However, considering what happened with the dead in the forbidden part of Niffleheim after Bor's attempts to gain more powers with the shell of the Galactus Seed, it could explain how Thanos would lead an undead army if he gained the cosmic artifact. But, considering the seventh Infinity Stone's origin appears to be linked directly to Galactus and Bor, Thor better hope he gets to the Black Stone first; otherwise, death might be unleashed like never before.
