Galactus is one of the most formidable villains of Marvel, devouring entire planets just to keep himself alive. He can't screen which planets he should devour himself, so he has heralds who do the job for him, usually against their will or with their psyche severely suppressed. 10 Sabretooth: The Herald Who Chose Duty Over Power

While Sabretooth, in the 616 universe, is better known as Wolverine's nemesis, his role is a bit different in other versions of the character. In the Earth-295 continuity, Sabretooth becomes involved in an issue faced by Galactus on Earth-552, where Galactus is actually a benevolent being. Protecting the universe, Galactus must deal with Silver Surfer, once his herald, who is now tyrannizing the universe.

As a result, Sabretooth requests that Galactus bestow the Power Cosmic upon him so he can defeat Silver Surfer while Galactus is incapacitated due to the battle between them. Sabretooth succeeds, saving the universe and a benevolent Galactus. The defeat of Silver Surfer was so impressive, and no easy feat, that Galactus offers Sabretooth the opportunity to stay with him and retain the Power Cosmic. However, Sabretooth turns down the offer, preferring to continue working alongside the Exiles team.

9 Fallen One: The Most Dangerous and Unstable Herald Galactus Ever Created

The Fallen One was the first herald that Galactus attempted to create, using dark energy to make him. As a result, Fallen One was given control of Black Matter. Just one perk of being granted control of Black Matter was that it gave him the ability to change his strength, allowing him to increase it to unknown limits.

Fallen One is such a strong and unpredictable force of nature that even Galactus considers him a threat. For Galactus to view anyone else as a threat is telling of just how powerful Fallen One truly is. Adding to Fallen One's danger is the fact that he is inherently evil, understandable, given that he is made of literal dark energy. Eventually, Galactus realizes he is better off without Fallen One and banishes him.

8 Terrax The Tamer: The Ruthless Herald Who Was Forced Into Service

While he usually went by Tyros, when he served as the herald for Galactus, he took the name Terrax the Tamer. A ruthless tyrant and ruler of the city Lanlak on the moon Birj, Tyros was cutthroat from the beginning. This cold-blooded aspect of Terrax's personality prompted Galactus to specifically choose him as his next herald, believing that his mercilessness would serve him better than previous heralds.

In contrast to his predecessors, Terrax became a herald by force rather than persuasion or agreement. This, understandably, made Terrax a rather disloyal herald, especially when compared to those who came before him. It was dangerous for Galactus to have such a strong being serve as a herald by force. With the cosmic power, Terrax was capable of destroying planets, demonstrating immense strength.

7 Air-Walker: The Loyal Herald Who Sacrificed Everything for Galactus

Air-Walker, also known as Gabriel Lan, was the second herald of Galactus, following Silver Surfer. Gabriel Lan was fiercely loyal to Galactus, even dying while defending him from an approaching Ovoidian warship fleet. Air-Walker had no issues whatsoever selecting new worlds to satisfy Galactus's hunger. After receiving a small portion of Galactus's cosmic power, the Xandarian's strength skyrocketed.

A Centurion of the Nova Corps, Air-Walker's strength was never to be underestimated; he was a skilled fighter and even considered a hero on his planet. However, after gaining the Power Cosmic, his strength grew far beyond his baseline, becoming incalculable. Had it not been for the advanced weapons of the Ovoid civilization, Air-Walker would likely have survived and could still be defending Galactus today.

6 Morg: The Brutal and Loyal Herald Who Wiped Out His Own Kind

Starting out as an alien executioner who held nothing back, Morg was a formidable threat from the beginning. He was a danger to all the planets out there, lacking any comion, much like Terrax and in contrast to the Silver Surfer, yet intensely loyal to Galactus. As a result, he had no qualms about ending the population of any planet for Galactus.

Before ever becoming a herald, Morg had already wiped out his own kind. The previous heralds recognized Morg's immense strength and were rightfully afraid that he could pose a threat far too great. As a result, they were recruited by the Silver Surfer to defeat Morg, preventing him from causing further untethered damage.

5 Thor: The Herald Who Betrayed Asgard for Galactus

In the traditional continuity, Thor is a force for good, working on behalf of heroic ideals and alongside other like-minded superheroes. As a result, he uses his exceptional strength to protect all people. However, readers get to see a new side of Thor in the What If? universe, when he becomes a herald of Galactus.

Thor s Galactus in the hope of saving Asgard, but when he finally arrives, he finds it already in ruins. With his home in shambles, Thor allows Galactus to devour Asgard. It doesn’t end there, Thor chooses to remain with Galactus as a herald, finding new planets for Galactus to consume, at the expense of their civilian populations. Thor's choices in this What If? issue are a stark contrast to what readers would typically expect from the Asgardian, offering an intriguing twist.

4 Destroyer Armor: The Sentient Armor Turned Unstoppable Herald of Galactus

When his herald, Pyreus Kril, aka Firelord, wants to step down from his duties, he is tasked with finding a new herald to replace him. First, he asks Thor if he wants to take over, but unsurprisingly, Thor declines. The pair then decides that the Destroyer Armor could be a potential option. As a result, Galactus enchants the Destroyer Armor, giving it sentience.

While the origin story of how the Destroyer Armor became a herald may seem odd, it proves to be worthwhile, as the armor is incredibly powerful. Capable of lifting more than 100 tons, the Destroyer Armor has even sured Thor's strength in battle. The armor was already formidable to begin with, having been enchanted by Odin to contain the life forces of the Asgardians. Gifted with the Power Cosmic, the strength of the Destroyer Armor increased to a whole new level.

3 Anti-Man: The Herald of Life Whose Power Outmatches Even the Sentry

Anti-Man, born Connor Sims, is rumored to be so strong that the Sentry once claimed he had never seen anyone as powerful as Anti-Man. While his exact strength level is unknown, it is high enough to completely demolish the entire Avengers team when he first battles them. Considering the immense strength of the Avengers, Anti-Man's range of powers seems borderline unfathomable.

He has been shown to be strong enough to dominate the Sentry, Ares, Wonder Man, She-Hulk, and Blue Marvel without any help or assistance from others. Given his insane amount of power, Galactus made Anti-Man his first Herald of Life, creating an entirely new sector of heralds specifically for him.

2 Superman: The Brainwashed Herald of Galactus Who Fought for His Freedom

It would be surprising to see DC and Marvel Comics characters together in the same story, yet that is exactly what happens with DC's Superman and Marvel's Fantastic Four and Galactus. After some planning, Superman enters the Galactus conflict when he receives a message revealing that Galactus, not a natural explosion, destroyed Krypton. As a result, Superman leaves the DC universe and enters Marvel's, where Galactus makes him his new herald, brainwashing him into cooperating with his scheme.

Initially successful, Superman takes Galactus to uninhabited planets, but they don't sustain him enough. As a result, Superman then brings Galactus to an inhabited planet, where he finally regains his senses and breaks free of the brainwashing. It takes both Superman and the Fantastic Four to confront Galactus, ultimately persuading him to stick to consuming uninhabited planets.

1 Silver Surfer: The Alpha-Plus Threat and Most Powerful Herald of Galactus

Arguably the most famous herald of Galactus, the Silver Surfer is also one of the strongest. With a designation as an Alpha Plus threat by the Galadorian Spaceknight Ikon, his strength should not be underestimated. The Silver Surfer has also been recognized as a Potential Universal-Level Threat by the Nova Corps, which is no exaggeration. He is capable of shattering entire planets, stars, and, if boosted by ambient cosmic energy, can even destroy whole galaxies.

Moreover, he has gone toe-to-toe with Thor, Abomination, and the Hulk, emerging victorious, an impressive testament to his strength, especially since he has survived battles with both Thanos and Galactus. When Galactus altered Silver Surfer’s mind to suppress his emotions and memories, he became a massive threat to all planets in service of his devouring overlord. However, once Silver Surfer regained his sentience, he dedicated himself to doing good to balance out all the evil he had once committed under Galactus.
