Galaxy Buds Pro released more than a year ago? Samsung has decided to go with the name Galaxy Buds 2 Pro instead of Galaxy Buds Pro 2, which should mean this is the pro model of the Galaxy Buds 2 just as the Galaxy Buds Pro is the pro model of the Galaxy Buds.
Other than the earbuds, Samsung also launched two new foldable smartphones and two new Galaxy smartwatches. The new Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, also feature a new design, and come with improved features as well as a few new ones. Like their predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 4 series, the new watches can also be paired with Samsung's earbuds.
The new earbuds take on a different design from the previous version and closely resemble the Galaxy Buds 2 announced in 2021. Samsung has kept the in-ear + stem-less design with replaceable ear tips, but the new earbuds are smaller than the Galaxy Buds Pro – 15% smaller, according to Samsung. The earbuds are also lighter at 5.5 grams per bud whereas the Galaxy Buds Pro weighs 6.3 grams per bud. In addition, more than 90% of the earbuds components are made from recycled materials, as revealed in the press release. This is pretty significant when compared to the 20% of the Galaxy Buds Pro. The earbuds still have an IPX7 water-resistance rating which makes them fine for use during workouts and in the rain. They will also survive immersion in water for up to 30 minutes. The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are available in Bora Purple, Graphite, and White.
Galaxy Buds 2 Pro Are Smaller & Lighter
Since the earbuds are now smaller, there has also been a reduction in the size of the drivers. Unlike the Galaxy Buds Pro which have 11mm drivers and 6.5mm tweeters, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro have 10mm drivers and a 5.3mm tweeters. The earbuds still use a 3 microphone + VPU (voice pickup unit) but Samsung says the ANC has been improved and can now detect lower-level sounds. Called Intelligent Active Noise Cancellation, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will also automatically switch to conversation mode when a is detected as speaking. At which point, the buds will automatically lower the volume and enter Ambient Mode, so the can hear what the other person is saying without the need to remove the earbuds.
The new earbuds also have Enhanced 360 Audio (audio switching is also included, although Samsung calls it Auto Switch, and it only works with Samsung's devices.
Despite the smaller size and thus smaller battery capacity, the battery life is still the same as that of the Galaxy Buds Pro. With ANC turned on, the earbuds will last up to 5 hours on a single charge and go up to 18 hours with the charging case. When ANC is turned off, the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro will provide up to 8 hours of use and go up to 29 hours in total with the charging case. Both LG Tone Free T90.
