In an interview with Screen Rant at the All That We Love screening at the Tribeca Film Festival, Pyle addressed the rumors surrounding Galaxy Quest 2. When questioned if she would be interested in returning for a sequel, Pyle responded, "Of course!" explaining that the original movie kickstarted her career in 1999. Given how "iconic" the movie is, she would be on board to return. Although Pyle didn't address the legitimacy of the rumors, she enthusiastically confirmed her interest in the sequel. Check out her statement below:
Of course! That was really the beginning of my career. It’s a really iconic movie, and a real coup to get. I kind of couldn't believe I was there! I was like, 'Is this my peak?' I can peak and then re-peak.
Why Didn’t Galaxy Quest 2 Ever Happen?
Galaxy Quest Took Some Time To Build A Following.
Despite the struggles Galaxy Quest 2 faced in getting off the ground and losing a central star, cast like Pyle keep hope alive with their persistent interest in making the sequel a reality.
Since its release, Galaxy Quest has steadily gained popularity and is now held as a cult classic. Given the high interest in a sequel, it's surprising that a follow-up was not made. In addition to Pyle, many of the original stars, including Sigourney Weaver, Tim Allen, and Sam Rockwell, have expressed interest in making another movie. However, no substantial reports of a Galaxy Quest sequel arose until 2014. The delay in development may have been because the original was not a huge box office hit, and it took some time to attain cult status as one of the best space comedies.

Why Galaxy Quest Was The Perfect Star Trek Parody
As a loving parody of the Star Trek franchise, Galaxy Quest served to humanize fandom at a time when fans were still considered outcasts.
By 2014, rumors of a sequel gained traction as former cast expressed their interest in returning, with even Allen claiming that a Galaxy Quest 2 script existed. The official announcement of a franchise expansion came in 2015 when Paramount confirmed it was developing a TV series based on the original movie, and Amazon soon jumped on the project. However, plans to revive Galaxy Quest came to a halt when original star Alan Rickman ed away in 2016. Although the cast had been in talks with Amazon regarding the series, they expressed doubt it would happen following Rickman's ing.
Over the years, though, reports have suggested that the Galaxy Quest series is still in development at Paramount. Meanwhile, in 2021, Allen reiterated claims that a sequel film script was nearly completed before Rickman's death. With major rewrites, development on the sequel film could still happen. While the TV show is in development, the sequel film remains unconfirmed. Despite the struggles Galaxy Quest 2 faced in getting off the ground and losing a central star, cast like Pyle keep hope alive with their persistent interest in making the sequel a reality.
