upgrade over the Galaxy S22 and the S22+ that were launched last year to a largely positive response from consumers. Along with the two aforementioned devices, the new lineup also includes the S23 Ultra, which ships with a built-in S Pen stylus – Samsung's way of keeping the Galaxy Note legacy alive after the company discontinued the incredibly popular series last year.

The base Galaxy S23 features a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 1,750 nits peak brightness. It also has an FHD+ resolution that gives it a 425ppi pixel density and is protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass Victus 2 screen protection technology. As for the S23+, it features a 6.6-inch screen with pretty much the same specifications but has a slightly less impressive 393ppi pixel density due to the larger size. Both devices have a 19.5:9 screen aspect ratio.

Galaxy S23 & S23+ Have A Lot In Common

The S23 and S23+ have many elements in common, including the processor and cameras. The devices are powered by a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC that Qualcomm and Samsung are calling the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy. Both the Galaxy S23 and S23+ come with 8GB of RAM, but while the former is offered with 128GB or 256GB of storage, the latter comes in 256GB and 512GB avatars. Another notable difference between them is the battery. While the vanilla S23 ships with a 3,900mAh unit with 25W fast charging , the S23+ has a beefier 4,700mAh battery with 45W fast charging. Both devices also Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and reverse wireless charging.

On the imaging side of things, both the S23 and S23+ come with the exact same cameras. That includes a triple-camera setup at the back, led by a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens and optical image stabilization. It can shoot 8K videos at 30fps, 4K videos at 60fps, and 1080p videos at 120fps. It can also shoot super slow-mo FHD videos at up to 960fps. A 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide shooter and a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera complete the rear-camera lineup. The selfie camera is a 12MP shooter with an f/2.2 lens and the ability to record 4K videos at up to 60fps. Both devices can shoot Super HDR videos, and have Samsung's enhanced night photography mode that the company calls Nightography.

Both the Galaxy S23 and S23+ come with multiple biometric security features, including an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition. Connectivity options in the two devices include Bluetooth 5.3, Wi-Fi 6E, and mmWave 5G, alongside the obligatory sub-6GHz network . Both devices are also IP68-rated, which denotes resistance to water, dust, dirt, and sand. On the software side, both phones will ship with Android 13 with One UI 5.1 on top. Samsung is offering up to four years of Android updates and five years of security updates with the new phones. They also come with Samsung's 'Knox Vault' security layer that was first introduced on the Galaxy S21 series.

Pricing starts at $799.99 for the Galaxy S23, while the S23+ starts at $999.99. They're already up for pre-order on the official Samsung website and will be available for purchase from Feb. 17 from Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, and major carriers and retailers. Both devices come in four colors, including Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender, but Samsung is also offering four exclusive colors on Samsung.com, including Lime, Graphite, Sky Blue, and Red. Customers pre-ordering any Galaxy S23-series device on Samsung.com will receive a free storage and upgrade and Samsung Credit of up to $100.
