Game Of Thrones wowed fans for eight seasons, blending action, romance, and politics altogether in a fantasy world filled with magic, dragons, and white walkers to create one of the greatest television shows of all time. Something that Game Of Thrones was fantastic at was clever dialogue with intelligent characters making great tactical points. Peter Baelish was one of the best at that, and few of his speeches came close to his iconic "chaos is a ladder" comments.
The show is ed for incredible lines such as this because in and amongst all of the brutal murders and dragons fighting, it was these deep character moments that really made the show what it was.
The Mountain Vs. Oberyn
There are a lot of Game Of Thrones, but few stuck in the minds of fans more than when The Mountain battled Oberyn Martell. This was so well put together, with Oberyn's speed and agility proving to be too much for the sheer power of The Mountain.
However, the way this fight ends is something that nobody predicted, and especially not in the brutal manner it is. Oberyn's death is one of the most gruesome, which is why it's so unforgettable.
Hold The Door
Another beloved character death came during the emotional "Hold The Door" scene. It saw Hodor defend Bran to his death, with the warg mind tricks not quite working out here. It's one of the most emotional scenes in the history of the show, and that is ultimately why it sticks in the minds of fans.
It wasn't just seeing Hodor die, but it was the fact that audiences were shown the reason why he could only say the word "Hodor" throughout the entire show, which is something that left fans seriously upset.
Shame, Shame, Shame
Cersei Lannister was such a dominant character who always had one up on her enemies, and that led to her becoming one of the most hated people on the show. However, nobody was prepared for her walk of shame and the mixed emotions it would bring.
When Cersei was first arrested by the Faith Militant, it seemed like she might get some measure of justice for all of her villainy. However, the brutality with which she was treated in this scene was hard to watch, which made it a scene that audiences simply didn't forget.
Push From The Tower
The final scene of the very first episode of Game Of Thrones is one that absolutely still lives rent-free in the heads of fans. It showcased just how shocking the show could be, revealing one of the biggest secrets of the world early on, the incestual relationship between Cersei and Jaime.
But it also set up the storyline for Bran Stark as well. Seeing him get pushed out of the tower when he catches them together left everyone surprised, as most people presumed the young boy had been murdered, in a moment that showed there are no lines that won't be crossed in the story.
Break The Wall Down
There's so much going on in this scene that it is impossible for it to not be one of the greatest. The White Walkers had a lot of amazing moments, but nothing topped The Night King on top of an ice dragon, breaking down the seemingly unbreakable wall.
The only barrier that was keeping them away and seemed simply too much for anybody to conquer was shattered by the dragon in a moment that stunned audiences. It left fans gasping, knowing that war was coming and that evil had truly arrived.
The Mother Of Dragons Is Born
There were some amazing scenes throughout the show with Daenerys and her dragons, especially once they got bigger and could fly. However, it is the scene when she first becomes the Mother Of Dragons that truly lives rent-free in people's minds.
This scene was unforgettable, with Daenerys rising from the flames, not burnt at all, and with a baby dragon now on her shoulder. She declared herself Khaleesi and from that point on, it was clear she was a force to be reckoned with.
Red Wedding
When it comes to iconic and unforgettable scenes, The Red Wedding will go down as one of the greatest, not just of this show, but of television history. What originally starts out as a happy wedding feast quickly turns into a bloody disaster as several main characters are betrayed and murdered.
It was such a shocking moment that non-book fans had no clue was going to happen, and that made it so impactful. It's a scene that fans still talk about constantly because it was so well done, from the music to the dialogue, which ensured it would live rent-free in people's minds forever.
