Jon Snow made it through all eight seasons of complicated tale to show for it, after all - a tale that includes not only the thrills of adventure, but of heartbreak, betrayal, friendship, romance, and, in his case, death - he literally didn't make it out alive, exactly.
Jon was one of few characters to make it all the way from beginning to end, and one could credit this to some superior moral goodness in him, but anyone who knows the show knows you have to be a horse of many colors to survive. Here are 1o of Jon's best and weakest qualities.
Weakness: Self-Pity
Now and again Jon will expose that he still holds onto resentment for being treated as the bastard of the Stark house. When he returns back home to Winterfell, having recaptured the castle from the evil Ramsay Bolton, he walks through the great hall.
There, he remarks upon the fact that when he lived there, he would be made to eat at the end of the hall while the rest of the family sat together. This bitterness makes sense, but after all, he's seen one would think he'd better appreciate how fortunate he was.
Strength: Humbleness
Jon knows he has worthwhile qualities, but he also knows great modesty. He is a good fighter and readily its it, but he is a fighter because he worked hard at it, and he must it it often in order to offer himself up to be chosen to risk himself for a fight he cares about--not exactly a situation of bragging.
Weakness: Naïvety
Jon Snow wants to see the best in people. Even after he has lived more thoroughly and seen betrayal and horror, he still maintains the part of him which wants to believe in goodness, in hope.
This is a good quality in many ways, but it also serves as a weakness for the moments when he puts more faith in people than they deserve, and he ends up at risk or putting others at risk because of it.
Strength: Loyalty
Jon is a loyal person. He may hold some resentment for always being treated as an inferior being within the Stark family while growing up, but this doesn't cause any substantial bitterness beyond a little self-pity - he remains genuinely loyal to the Starks, coming to their aid when called.
He remains loyal to anyone he pledges loyalty to, only even quitting the Night's Watch once he has technically died and thus ending his oath.
Weakness: Kindness
Jon's kindness puts him in many tight spots. This often causes him to lose sight of the bigger picture, putting greater numbers of people in danger while tending to the more immediate few.
It also puts himself in danger, and could be counted as a reason why he is betrayed and killed by some of the men of the Night's Watch - they are not used to someone so kind, and it causes them to trust his decisions less, even when they are in their best interest.
Strength: Bravery
One of Jon's greatest attributes is his willingness to sacrifice himself for what he interprets to be the greater good. He does not hesitate when offering himself up to death, facing it many times for the sake of others. His bravery is different than most in the show, too, because it is not rooted in glory, but in care.
Weakness: Hope
Jon ever holds out hope for a better future. He has low moments now and again, but his overall character mood is one of hope over despair.
His eye easily catches the glint of something that looks promising and new, like Daenerys. He wants to believe that people can mean well and do good, and he is sometimes right, but often wrong.
Strength: Honesty
Jon is almost always straightforward. He speaks his opinion, even when it is not a popular one, and it often isn't. He stands for what he believes is right, and he does not serve any agenda which he does not agree with. His actions often represent his beliefs, showing that his value system is consistent and that he lives what he preaches.
Weakness: Pride
While not always immediately apparent, Jon proves to sometimes be lead by pride rather than logic or reason. Such an instance may at first be missed under the guise of bravery or honor.
But upon closer inspection reveals that Jon is affected by the need to be seen as a strong, respectable man whose name would look impressive in the history books - most of the characters are this way, and he is no an exception.
Strength: Steadfast
Say what you will about Jon, he does what he says he will do. He values the good of the majority over that of the few and does what he thinks is most likely to benefit them.
He is not driven by self-interest, like most people vying for leadership in the show, because he never actually asked to be a leader--he was always elected to be one because he was the man the people chose
