Your character in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad has a variety of stats, skills, and traits you can upgrade throughout your adventure. From stronger combat abilities to unique ive buffs, your character can go through constant improvements as you complete various quests. However, with so many details defining your character, it can be tricky to know all the different ways you’re able to grow.
The skills and traits for your character vary depending on the class you picked in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. For example, the Sellsword class gains the Skill Earth Strike, a disruptive attack that consumes Rage. Although every archetype has unique Skills and preferred stats, each class is upgraded in the same way, making it easy to apply improvements to any character you create.
How To Upgrade Skills
Gain Points To Spend On Various Abilities
Skills are special abilities exclusive to your character’s class, usually tied to strong attacks or buffs you activate. Every Skill you equip for your character costs Rage to perform and takes some time to recover off a cooldown. Upgrading any Skills you have can reduce cooldowns, increase a Skills damage, or even prolong the positive buff it creates as you fight.
Rage is a resource located under your health bar at the lower left corner of your screen UI. You can build Rage by landing attacks against enemies, with combos raising Rage the most.
Your character can upgrade their Skills by earning Skill Points throughout their adventure. Skill Points are divided into two categories, including:
• Active Skills
• Basic Skills
Once you start your journey in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad and begin exploring Westeros, you earn Skill Points by completing missions or leveling up. Every quest you finish is likely to give you Skill Points from either category, allowing you to start improving your character’s array of combat features. Notifications in the “Skills” section of your “Advancement” menu will tell you when you have Skill Points to spend on leveling up character abilities.

Game Of Thrones: Kingsroad Opens Steam Early Access
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, the action-adventure RPG from Netmarble, has announced Early Access on Steam.
Active Skill Points will improve your character’s Active Skills, which are class-specific special moves you unleash by spending Rage. There is a limitation on how many Active Skills you can have equipped, so choogrades for these abilities is an important part of your character’s growth.
On the other hand, Basic Skills are your ordinary combat features, such as your class attack combos, Evasion attack, Sprint Attack, etc. Using Basic Skill Points, these abilities can be improved as well, bolstering the damage of specific attack types you use regularly in battle. Certain Skills in both categories only gain damage increases when leveled up, but other properties could change depending on the feature you want to upgrade.
How To Upgrade Traits
Activate Nodes To Unlock New Abilities & Increase Stats
The second way you upgrade your character in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad’s evolving story is through Traits, which can also be accessed through the “Advancement” menu. Traits are ive bonuses for your character, either buffing stats or unlocking new abilities for you to use.
For example, one Trait upgrade unlocks the ability to Parry incoming attacks from enemies you face.
Similar to Skills, you upgrade Traits by collecting unique Points that activate nodes on Trait Trees. There are three different Trait trees, including:
• Attack Trait Tree
• Defense Trait Tree
• Trait Tree
Each Tree has a branching network of nodes you can activate by spending Trait Points you earn from completing quests and progressing the main story. Pursuing side quests, defeating Dangerous Beasts, upgrading your Estate, and leveling up all earn you Trait Points as well, giving you multiple ways to improve your character quickly.
Side quests, Dangerous Beast locations, and other events that would earn you Skill or Trait points are marked on your world map as you explore new areas. One of the most common ways to earn Trait Points from exploration is to complete Mural Puzzles located at Historic Sites scattered across Westeros.
By spending Trait Points at nodes in one of the three available Trait Trees, you upgrade certain aspects of your character’s Attack, Defense, or features. For example, activating a node in the tree can increase your max Health, while activating an Attack tree node will raise your overall damage from all your attacks. Some nodes on every Trait Tree will be locked until you activate other nodes first or until you make enough progress in the game’s story.
Nodes for Trait Trees can sometimes be upgraded multiple times. Larger nodes typically cost more than one Trait Point, but you should always be able to spend Points on nodes that can be activated multiple times. Some nodes can be improved up to 10 times, others 5 times, and so on depending on which ive buffs they are tied to.
No matter how you choose to upgrade your character stats, you can refund Skill and Trait points whenever you want, allowing you to respec your character upgrades at any point as you unlock new features. There is no penalty or resource cost for refunding Points you spend, so you can experiment with different character upgrades to see which ones work best.
Other Ways To Upgrade Your Character’s Stats
Equip Different Armor And Find Better Equipment
Like any good RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad gives you options to upgrade your character beyond just improving their Skills and Traits. One of the most common ways to improve your character’s stats is to equip better armor that you find or craft along your journey.
Your stats are divided into six categories, including:
• Attack Power
• Defense
• HP
• Rage
• Critical Strike Rate
• Critical Damage
The weapon you equip ties into how high your attacking stats are, so finding better versions of whatever axe, sword, or knives you can use is a great way to improve your character’s fighting prowess. Some Jewelry and Artifacts you equip can also impact your character’s stats, giving them higher scores in specific categories. Artifacts are special items that grant your character special abilities not tied to the Skills you already choose to have. You can restore, refine, and even reset Artifacts by expending various resources to make it stronger, improving its effects that boost qualities of your character.
The combination of equipment, Trait Trees, and Skills improvements define how your character is upgraded as you find your way across the Seven Kingdoms. While any one your character in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad may not seem like much at first, the combination of small enhancements builds over time, creating a powerful figure sure to shape the future of Westeros.
