As revealed during The Game Awards 2024, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will be released in 2025 and is described as an action-adventure RPG. Instead of playing as an existing character, players will control a new character from House Tyre, a small noble house in the North. Players will be able to customize their character and choose from one of three classes: Sellsword, Knight or Assassin. The game will launch on mobile in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East in 2025, with plans for Asia's release to be announced next year.

Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is set during Season 4, which means that Robb Stark's war against the Lannisters has ended with and the North is now controlled by Roose Bolton. Additionally, Jon Snow has just escaped from beyond the Wall and is preparing for a massive attack on Castle Black by an army of Wildlings while Joffrey Baratheon is preparing to wed Margaery Tyrell. Meanwhile, Arya Stark is still traveling with Gregor Clegane, seeking her remaining family.
Game of Thrones: Legends Gets First Trailer & Summer Release Date
Zynga's RPG puzzle game, Game of Thrones: Legends, has a first official trailer and a full worldwide release date, just in time for HOTD.
Based on the trailer for the game, the player character is a member of the Night's Watch and is tasked with gathering of the Great Houses to fight the White Walkers. The name "Game of Thrones: Kingsroad" suggests that players will travel down the Kingsroad on their journey, encountering most of the major regions of Westeros as a result. It's unclear whether Daenerys will be involved in the new game, as she's still in Essos at this point in time during the show.

New Game Benefits From Working Within A Completed Show
While we've seen plenty of mobile games tie-ins to Game of Thrones, there's yet to be a truly great Game of Thrones video game - even the Telltale release has a mixed Metacritic score of 64. Hopefully, that changes with Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, which benefits from having a finished show to work around. The developers know which characters live and die during the show, which should help cultivate a storyline that feels impactful without disrupting continuity. While we're not sure how mobile devices will deal with an action-adventure RPGs, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will hopefully have the story and gameplay to be the first hit for a top fantasy franchise.
