One of the many exciting announcements from The Game Awards 2024 is the open-world Game of Thrones action RPG, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad. The roleplaying adventure will allow players to explore Westeros alongside some of their favorite characters from the acclaimed TV show. While not much information has been released yet, the official website has a preview of the three classes that will be available and some limited details about their connection to the Game of Thrones universe.

The trailer features playable characters from the three classes in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, and shows what's in store in of combat. Players will encounter many familiar characters from the franchise, and each of the three unique classes will have abilities and attacks that are inspired by the archetypes seen in Game of Thrones. Here's a look at all three classes announced so far in the action roleplaying game, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, set to release in 2025.

Class Details For The Knight In Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Longsword Specialist

The first unique class in the newly revealed Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is inspired by the duty-sworn Knight found defending the Seven Kingdoms. According to the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad website, the Knight class is designed around the "refined and balanced swordplay of a Westerosi knight," such as Ser Jaime Lannister or Jorah Mormont, and will incorporate attacks using a longsword and "calculated swordsmanship." This class will likely feature parrying mechanics and finesse with dodging.

It's unclear what advantages each class might have outside of combat, or if there will be any advantages in of dialogue options, exploration, or discovery in the open world. The Knight would likely swear allegiance to a particular house, and since the game is set after the deadly events of the Red Wedding, there aren't many great options to choose from. Players will have to wait for more information to see what specific unique features and abilities the Knight has in Kingsroad.

Class Details For The Sellsword In Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Two-Handed Axe Specialist

Sellsword from GoT: Kingsroad

The Sellsword class in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is a barbarian-style class that will utilize heavy smash attacks with "massive two-handed axes." These brute-strength fighters are modeled after both the Wildling and Dothraki combat styles from the show, meaning they will likely incorporate tanky abilities and excel at taking down larger opponents or big groups of enemies. The brutality of both the Wildling raiders and Dothraki hordes are a force to be reckoned with, so this class will likely encapsulate their strength.

Players can look to characters such as the Dothraki chieftan Khal Drogo or fan favorite Tormund Giantsbane as references to the Sellsword class. The choice of "Sellsword" as the name for this class also implies an interest in gold or monetary gain of some sort. The Game of Thrones show does have actual sellswords - Bronn, for example - but it's unclear if the class will capture the sellsword's sense of wit.

Class Details For The Assassin In Game of Thrones: Kingsroad

Dual Daggers Specialist

Assassin GoT: Kingsroad

The third class in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is the Assassin, and seems to be modeled somewhat blatantly around Arya Stark after she became part of the "enigmatic Faceless Men." Creating a class around this group is a no-brainer, and it will hopefully integrate the stealth and deception abilities into combat in a meaningful way, though all that is clear now is that Assassins will use "dual daggers" and engage "in dexterous, dance-like combat."

While information is rather sparse about each of the three classes in Game of Thrones: Kingsroad, it's clear that fighting and/or combat styles are the focus here, and the role-playing elements at play for each class aren't apparent. Players will have to wait for the Game of Thrones: Kingsroad full release in 2025 to get a full picture of what each class is capable of.
