Meera Reed was last seen in Three-Eyed Raven. Unfortunately, Meera and her family didn't get a role in the eighth and final season.

Following the Sack of Winterfell, Bran, Rickon, Hodor, Osha, and their direwolves fled toward Castle Black. On their journey, the group encountered Meera and Jojen Reed who were on a mission to find the Three-Eyed Raven. Bran and Hodor ed the mission, embarking north of the Wall. Whereas Jojen taught Bran about his greenseer abilities, Meera served as the protector. Before making it to the Three-Eyed Raven's cave, the group was attacked by wights and Jojen was lost. Sometime later, the group was attacked again, leaving Meera and Bran as the only survivors. She was then tasked with taking the new Three-Eyed Raven back to Winterfell to warn of the dangers to come.

Upon making it back to Winterfell, Meera decided she needed to get back to her family at Greywater Watch, the location of House Reed. Even though Meera sacrificed everything to protect Bran, all he gave her was a brief "thank you." Meera left the castle and was never seen or heard from again. In fact, the fate of House Reed was never revealed much to the dismay of many Game of Thrones viewers. There was speculation that Meera and Howland, in particular, would be involved in the final season, but their involvement served as loose ends that the series failed to tie up.

Game Of Thrones Did A Disservice By Excluding The Reed Family In Season 8

Howland Reed had a long and interesting history with Children of the Forest and White Walkers. He would have been fitting figure to have for the Battle of Winterfell but the series decided to exclude his family altogether.

It would have been a good opportunity to present Howland in the present-day timeline to further connect his past with House Stark. In doing so, Game of Thrones could have brought back Meera since she already so much time putting her life on the line. When she arrived back to Greywater Watch, she clearly would have ed along the threat to come. It's difficult to believe that House Reed would have stayed hidden while key allies took the brunt of the Howland briefly appeared in the finale, it was still a lost opportunity.

Game of Thrones likely ran out of time when it came to certain subplots, but this was one that fans hoped to see. The case with House Reed will likely be different in George R.R. Martin's interpretation of the ending. In the last released novel, A Dance With Dragons, Meera successfully got Bran to the cave with the help of Leaf. There's still an opportunity to give her and the Reed family a bigger role in the impending war against the forces beyond the Wall.
