Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 has been tough for Gary after some allegations of sexual misconduct came to light between the last season and the current one, leaving viewers questioning what they could trust about the difficult First Officer.

While Gary’s behavior is out of line if true, he’s been vehemently against the allegations since they were released, repeatedly sharing that he didn’t have any part in the misconduct outlined by Below Deck franchise makeup artist Samantha Suarez. Though there have been issues with Gary and the women of Below Deck Sailing Yacht in the past, it’s possible that he’s telling the truth, and everything that happened was a major misunderstanding. Regardless, some Below Deck viewers are more willing to forgive Gary than others. While some viewers don’t care about the allegations, others have struggled with watching the show.

Though Gary is typically featured as one of the main yachties on the show, he’s been skillfully edited around throughout the most recent season, probably to avoid issues after the allegations came to light. He Filmed Far More Than He’s Featured

Although Gary has been part of Below Deck Sailing Yacht since nearly the beginning of the show, there are some things that he’s done that have made viewers wonder about his relationships with women and his attitudes toward them. Gary has always been considered to be one of the biggest playboys in the Below Deck franchise, and has often found himself in the weeds because of his relationship to a woman on the Parsifal III’s crew. While Gary has struggled to keep himself regulated from season to season, things have always been explained away when it comes to his behavior.

Even though Gary has been exhibiting poor behavior for years, it’s only been in the last two seasons of Below Deck Sailing Yacht that he’s been called out for his inappropriate nature. During Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 4, Gary was shown in interactions with Mads Herrera and Daisy Kelliher that made viewers uncomfortable, but it seemed to be excused until the misconduct allegations came out. Now, Gary is calling out Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 for editing him out of episodes and only seeming to keep him on the show in key moments, despite knowing he filmed more.

Gary’s been open about the fact that he’s been edited out of the show, and he’s been trying to rally others about the level of producer interference that Below Deck Sailing Yacht has taken on. While there’s a typical amount of reality TV interference that comes with the show, Gary has been honest about the fact that producers shaving him out of the series is showing an entirely different version of events than what happened on the show. Sharing on his Instagram, Gary has been explicit in the fact that his removal from the show isn’t something he’s happy about.

While Gary may have been edited out of Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 for good reason, it appears he’s not entirely sure of the reasoning behind the show’s decision. Calling out producers for bringing him into the series and not allowing him to stay in the final edit for the show, Gary’s been clear that editing him out is making the narrative far different than its meant to be. Instead of bragging about his appearance on the show in the way he normally would, Gary’s trying to fact check on screen situations and share his thoughts on social media.

Gary has been more vocal about production interference on the show, which could mean people find him to be more honest, or at the very least, more open about the things he’s experienced. This could win him back the respect of some Below Deck Sailing Yacht viewers, even if not everyone is on board with his behavior.
