Genshin Impact's Version 3.1 update will introduce Nilou as a new playable character during the second half of the update. Along with Nilou, Albedo will return in a separate Banner, which will allow players another chance to obtain the chief alchemist of Mondstadt. Players should expect three returning 4-star characters who will also have promotional rate-ups during the Banners, but HoYoverse has yet to officially confirm which 4-star characters will be featured.
Nilou in Genshin Impact is a catalyst who wields a Hydro Vision. She can fulfill a Hydro DPS role or become an off-field Hydro enabler due to her Elemental Skill having two different stances. Nilou's primary role within a team is to trigger Bloom Elemental Reactions because of her ive Talent called Court of Dancing Petals, which will create Bountiful Cores and will deal Dendro damage to enemies in the AOE.
Albedo is a Geo sword who focuses on off-field damage. His Elemental Skill creates a Geo structure and will deal damage whenever the active ally strikes an enemy. His Elemental Burst creates Geo crystals and Fatal Blossoms that will deal damage within the area. Albedo in Genshin Impact is considered a quick-swap character, which means players will typically use his abilities and then immediately switch to a different ally.
Genshin Impact 3.1 Banners: Is Nilou or Albedo Better
Nilou's greatest strength is her reliable Hydro application toward enemies. This will allow players to easily trigger Elemental Reactions like Vaporize, Freeze, Electro-Charged, and Bloom. She specifically scales with HP stats to increase damage with her Bountiful Cores and is a reliable character for dealing high AOE damage, which can be essential for defeating multiple enemies at once. Nilou's weakness is that in order to create the Bountiful Cores, a player is forced to strictly use Hydro and Dendro characters in Genshin Impact. This restriction severely limits Nilou's usability in different teams, especially when there are currently only three Dendro characters to choose from.
Albedo serves as a strong sub-DPS character who can easily deal close to 30,000 damage with the Husk of Opulent Dreams artifact set and the Cinnabar Spindle sword, which was a free-to-play event weapon during the Version 2.3 update. Albedo's ive Talents can also increase the entire team's Elemental Mastery after using his Burst, further ing allies His Elemental Skill being a Geo structure can be destroyed, resulting in loss of damage until he can reapply the structure. Geo-Elemental Reactions in Genshin Impact are also considered one of the weaker reactions unlike Hydro, which is praised for being strong by fans.
Players looking for a reliable sub-DPS character should consider pulling for Albedo especially if Zhongli is a part of the team. Zhongli has great synergy with Albedo and can further increase damage and utility, but if players are in need of a Hydro enabler for Bloom reactions, Nilou can be an asset. Fans could also skip the Version 3.1 Banners and save for Genshin Impact's 3.2 update, which will feature the 5-star Nahida who is considered a strong Dendro character.
