New character banners in Genshin Impact 5.7, which will see the debut of Skirk and Dahlia as playable units, as well as rerun characters.
The leaks have detailed how these new characters will work in combat. According to the rumors, Skirk will be a 5-star Cryo character who operates as a main DPS in team comps, being responsible for the majority of the party’s damage output. The leaks say she will hit her peak performance when she is within Freeze team comps, aided by other Cryo and Hydro characters. Meanwhile, leaks show that Dahlia is a 4-star Hydro unit capable of creating replenishing shields for his party. The rumors also say Dahlia’s kit in Genshin Impact 5.7 benefits the usage of Freeze teams.
Genshin Impact 5.8 May Not Have New Characters, Despite Previous Rumors
Leaks Had Mentioned A New Hydro Character In Version 5.8
Looking even beyond Version 5.7, some recent rumors had indicated that Version 5.8 would see the introduction of at least one new character, who would have the potential to become Skirk’s best . According to the leaks about the new character in Genshin Impact 5.8, this character would be a 5-star Hydro that would sur Dahlia’s potential and, potentially, even match Furina’s performance for Skirk team comps. Furthermore, there had also been several rumors and speculation about Capitano’s playable release in Version 5.8, preceding players’ ventures into Nod-Krai, despite his fate at the end of the Natlan story arc.

After Seeing The Genshin Impact 5.7 Leaks, I'm Convinced This Is Dainsleif's Playable Element
A new animation for Dainsleif has leaked in Genshin Impact 5.7 beta tests, and after seeing it, I’m sure I know which element he will use in combat.
However, it seems like no new character will be added to the game in Version 5.8, according to information provided by the leaker known as Uncle Kokomi. The leak was shared in a post flagged as “Questionable” on Capitano’s release in Genshin Impact seems unlikely, though a new Hydro character is still a lot more possible.
Genshin Impact 5.8's Lack Of New Characters Could Be A Blessing
Players Could Use The Patch To Save Characters For Nod-Krai Characters
Even though the prospect of new playable characters is generally positive, I believe the lack of a new playable character during one patch, specifically during Version 5.8, will be of great benefit to players. This is because new characters often draw players pulls in the banners, which modifies their pity rates. The big issue is that HoYoverse has been continuously releasing new playable characters over the past year, and players haven’t had a chance to save up resources, unless they decided to actively skip one of the new units, such as Mizuki, Varesa, or Escoffier in Genshin Impact, for example.

Genshin Impact 5.7 Leaks: New Free Character Giveaway Feels Like A Downgrade From Previous Reward
There are rumors of a new free character giveaway event in Genshin Impact 5.7, but the speculated reward does seem like a downgrade from before.
This is not to mention that Version 5.7 will introduce Skirk as a new playable unit, and she is highly anticipated by players. Furthermore, the banner leaks indicate that players will get access to the first Emilie and Mavuika reruns, and the long-absent Shenhe rerun banner, giving them the chance to pick up characters they missed before. As such, Version 5.8 could come as a blessing for those looking to save up Primogems before using them to invest in new characters that appear. It just so happens that players can expect an influx of new characters in Genshin Impact soon.
While this has yet to be confirmed, it is possible that Version 5.8 will be the final 5.X update before the arrival of Version 6.0, a patch that will kick off a brand-new year of content for players, steering away from Natlan and moving into Nod-Krai. Initially, it was understood that Snezhnaya would be the next destination on the Traveler’s adventure, but they may first have to explore the Snezhnayan subregion of Nod-Krai – subsequently, Genshin Impact’s roap may have been extended by a full year as players venture into this new mysterious area located at the border of Snezhnaya.

Genshin Impact 5.7 Leaks: Rethink Pulling For Skirk's Signature Weapon
New details about Skirk’s signature weapon in Genshin Impact 5.7 have been leaked, and while it’s amazing, you may want to rethink pulling for it.
The release of a new region will also likely result in a set of new character releases to occur during most of the Version 6.X patches. This is especially true when considering that the game itself has already mentioned that locals in Nod-Krai have access to a special power that goes beyond the seven playable elements. I find it likely that Nod-Krai will be treated as a fully-fledged region, much like the six previous Nations, and that the characters from there will have unique mechanics. This is why the rumored absence of new characters in Genshin Impact 5.8 is good.
What We Know About Genshin Impact's Nod-Krai (So Far)
The Area Is Located Within Snezhnaya’s Borders
Little has been revealed about Nod-Krai, and unlike the regions before it, the leaks about the mysterious area are scarce. Nod-Krai is a part of Snezhnaya and rests at the Nation of Cryo’s southern border. The area is a hub for travelers from across Teyvat and serves as a rich trading point between Nations. As a consequence, it’s reported that there are several different factions fighting for power and dominion over the region. The Abyssal creatures within the region are known as The Wild Hunt, and they are reported to be stronger than the regular Abyss enemies in Genshin Impact.
How The Wild Hunt differentiates itself from the Abyss enemies encountered so far remains to be seen and teased further.
Nod-Krai’s Lightkeepers is a faction that fights The Wild Hunt. The surrounding area is occupied by a group known as the Frostmoon Scions. Inside Nod-Krai, there’s a faction of merchants called Voynich Guild, responsible for safekeeping and supervising the area. Aside from the local forces, the Fatui have also been recalled to Snezhnaya and dispatched to Nod-Krai, meaning that players will likely encounter the Tsaritsa’s forces within the region. With all these different groups, it seems certain that several new Genshin Impact characters will be released during the year, so saving Primogems starting in Version 5.8 may be great.
