Just as fans were about to give up hope of the project ever seeing the light of day, Genshin Impact's anime has received an update at long last, reassuring fans that the anime is still very much in the works. First announced back in 2022, HoYoverse and Ufotable have been largely silent regarding the Genshin Impact anime ever since but a recent job listing suggests the project is finally moving forward.

Keen-eyed fans of the popular gacha game recently noticed that HoYoverse, the developers of Genshin Impact, recently posted a job opening for a screenwriter for the Genshin anime, proving that the project has not been abandoned despite the lack of updates and is slowly but surely progressing. The listing mentions that the role involves supervising the script for the "Genshin animation project" with the Japanese language requirements confirming this is the same anime in collaboration with Ufotable. That said, HoYoverse is yet to provide an official update regarding the anime or when fans can expect it to be released.

Genshin Impact's Anime Finally Gets an Update

MiHoYo Is Looking for Writers for the Genshin Anime

Considering the excitement surrounding the new region and the soon-to-be-released Pyro Archon Mauvika, the update regarding Genshin Impact's anime could not have come at a better time. HoYoverse initially announced the Genshin Impact anime on September 16, 2022, along with a concept trailer, dubbing it a long-term project, and over two years later there finally seem to be signs of progress, with MiHoYo looking to hire the necessary staff, starting with a scriptwriter.

The listing in question was posted on MiHoYo's official job board with the role calling for a full-time "Animation Writer" to be precise. The job responsibilities mention the role will involve working on an unspecified Genshin animation project with no specifics as to whether this is the same long-term project with Ufotable. That said, the role does call for Japanese oral communication skills, implying the position does have to do with the anime as this would involve maintaining communication with the Japanese staff at Ufotable.

The Genshin Anime Will Be Ufotable's Next Big Franchise

Overall, it is difficult to stay why Genshin Impact's anime has been delayed for so long but it seems both HoYoverse and Ufotable are taking their time with the project. It is possible that Ufotable have had their hands full with Demon Slayer instead, choosing to focus on one project at a time. If so, with Demon Slayer's franchise set to be wrapped up with the film trilogy, it may not be too long until Ufotable can shift their focus to the Genshin Impact anime at long last.

"The production of the animation has already started, and we're excited and looking forward to it. "Work is already underway in the studio to portray the fascinating open world of Genshin Impact. We are truly looking forward to the day when we embark on our journey together."

In of the many animation studios out there to choose from, HoYoverse could not have picked a better studio for the Genshin anime than Ufotable, who continue to outdo themselves with every new IP they take on. More importantly, given the global popularity of the game, the Genshin Impact anime could very well end up being Ufotable's next big sensation, perfectly filling the void left by Demon Slayer, making this collaboration a match made in heaven.
