Premiering first in the Genshin Impact 3.0 update, Nilou has recently had information about her as a playable character leaked online. While she hasn't been seen as much as fellow 3.1 character Cyno, she has been known about for a good bit of time leading up to 3.0, where she's shown up in the main story quests and most likely will continue to be a prominent character moving through the story of Sumeru. However, her initial appearance has attracted fans' excitement due to her charming personality and beautiful design.
As the 3.0 update of Genshin Impact arrived, developer HoYoverse gave fans an official look at the characters in the 3.1 update: Nilou and Cyno, and 4-Star Candace. Of course, much of the current excitement about the game is based on the inclusion of a new region and the first new element since the game initially launched. As time goes on and the 3.1 update nears closer, the excitement for these will be replaced by introducing these new playable characters.
Most of the details of Nilou's mechanics are known to players through leaks. She is a Hydro Sword character that would seem to be built for a Sub-DPS or role in a team. Her play style is designed to match her style as a dancer, as her attacks are quick, graceful, and refined. It's very fitting for a character of her background, as she was introduced to players as one of Sumeru's most famous artists, dubbed the Star of Zubayr Theater. Nilou and future update characters recently got a new release schedule for Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact: Nilou's Combat And ive Talents
According to the popular Genshin Impact online database Project Amber, Nilou's Normal Attack is called Dance of the Bowstring Moon, which will perform a three-strike combo, or if a Charged Attack, Nilou will consume some stamina for a twirling slash. Her Plunge Attack is the same as other sword s. In contrast, Nilou's Elemental Skill Dance of the Seven Realms is complicated. When used, Nilou will enter a Pirouette stance; this will also deal Hydro damage to all nearby enemies that scale off Nilou's max health. When in Pirouette, Nilou's Normal and Elemental Attacks will have her enter the Sword Dance or Whirling Moons stances respectively. Both of these stances turn her attacks into Hydro damage, considered Elemental Skill Damage.
While in Sword Dance, Nilou's Normal Attacks are converted to Sword Dance techniques, the final hit will send out a watery moon that deals Hydro damage. When in Whirling Steps, Nilou will create a water wheel that will deal Hydro damage in an area of effect and create an aura that will follow around the players' active character and apply the wet effect to enemies. This alone would make Nilou a strong candidate to become one of the best Hydro characters in Genshin Impact, but there is still her burst. Luckily, Nilou's Elemental Burst - Dance of the Lotus: Distant Dreams, Listening Spring - is much less complicated. Nilou will unleash a large area of effect Hydro attack that leaves the debuff Lingering Aeon on enemies. After some time, Lingering Aeon will trigger and deal extra Hydro damage to all targets.
Nilou's two ive skills significantly impact what kind of team and role to put her in. The first skill, Court of Dancing Petals, will allow her Elemental Skill to give the buff Golden Chalice if there is at least one Hydro and one Dendro character in a player's party. The Golden Chalice buff will give characters an Elemental Mastery boost of 60 for ten seconds if a Dendro attack hits them. Additionally, it will give the Bloom reaction, one of the new Hydro and Dendro Reactions, which is triggered during the buff, and Bountiful Cores will spawn instead of Dendro Cores; these cores have a larger area of effect than normal ones but can not be affected by other elements. The second ive is Dreamy Dance of Aeons, which will increase the damage of Bountiful Cores by 8%, max of 300%, for every 1000 max health Nilou has over 30000. Finally, Nilou's noncombat ive is that she has a 12% chance to double a cooked dish that is adventure related.
Genshin Impact Leaks: Nilou's Constellations
Based on early predictions, Nilou may be in a weird spot regarding her Constellations. If players can get her to at least C2, that is where she may shine, making it unlikely she will be one of the characters that need full Constellations to be at their best.
Constellation 1: Dance of the Waning Moon
This will increase Watery Moon damage by 65% and the duration of Tranquility's Aura by six seconds.
Constellation 2: The Starry Skies Their Flowers Rain
When characters with the Golden Chalice buff deal Hydro damage to opponents, enemies' Hydro resistance will decrease by 35% for ten seconds. After a Bloom reaction deals damage to enemies, their Dendro resistance will decrease by 35% for ten seconds.
Constellation 3: Beguiling Shadowstep
Elemental Burst Dance of the Lotus: Distant Dreams, Listening Spring level increases by three.
Constellation 4: Fricative Pulse
After Nilou's third Pirouette attack hits enemies, she will gain 15 Elemental Mastery, and her Elemental Bursts damage, which may already be one of the most useful 5-Star Elemental Bursts, will increase by 50% for eight seconds.
Constellation 5: Twirling Light
Elemental Skill Dance of the Seven Realms level increases by three.
Constellation 6: Frostbreaker's Melody
For every 1000 max health Nilou has, her CRIT Rate and CRIT Damage will increase by 0.6% and 1.2% respectively. With a maximum of 30% and 60% respectively.
Genshin Impact: Nilou Ascension Materials And Special Dish
Outside the usual Lazurite gems that Hydro s need, Nilou's Ascension materials are mainly new additions to the game: the new Padisarah flower, the new fungal spore material line, and Perpetual Calibers, acquired from the new enemy type Blightdrakes. Her talent books are the new Praxis series that can be obtained from Domains in Sumeru. Lastly, Nilou's specialty dish is the Swirling Steps pudding, crafted with one milk, two Padisarah flowers, one Sumeru Rose, and one sugar. This dish will decrease climbing and sprinting Stamina consumption by 25% for 1500 seconds, making it one of the best dishes to make in Genshin Impact.
Overall, Nilou is gearing up to be a strong new 5-Star in Genshin Impact. However, her role is more up in the air and will have to be settled when she is in the hands of the players. While not seeming to have the damage of a Main DPS, she also seems too strong to be delegated to a role. However, most of her damage will revolve around her having other Hydro or Dendro characters in her party. How many Constellations she may need to be her best self will also be a massive part of her viability for free-to-play players. Currently, Nilou is a true wait-and-see character that deserves the hype but has an undetermined future.
