Genshin Impact's Version 2.0 update, including new weapons, playable characters, and enemies that will fill out the game's newest region. Additionally, players have been able to learn about some of the story in Inazuma, and some of the conflicts that Travelers will be facing in the near future.

Genshin Impact's story progression is designed to continue alongside the addition of each new region, with each territory offering its own primary conflict as well as quests and information to continue the main questline between the Traveler siblings. New characters like Ayaka and Yoimiya will contribute to the story, and add more lore to the world of Teyvat, which will be revealed the more players are allowed to explore. Genshin Impact's Inazuma story ventures into the tense atmosphere the isolationist island nation.

While some information about Inazuma had been previously revealed through NPC dialogue in-game, the full situation had never been explored beyond Travelers receiving a warning to tread carefully in the territory. Inazuma is known as the Nation of Eternity throughout Teyvat, and is ruled by the Raiden Shogun (also known as Baal). Her primary goal is to "implement Eternity" throughout her territory, though through what means exactly has yet to be revealed. Recently, it looks as if Baal has been on a bit of a power trip, with her current initiative focused on the Visions of her citizens.

Genshin Impact's Inazuma Region Sees Archon Baal Taking Visions

A cliff in Inazuma in Genshin Impact

Visions within Genshin Impact are described as gifts bestowed upon mortals recognized by the gods, and grant powerful elemental abilities based on which god granted the Vision. Those lucky enough to be granted their own Vision are known as Allogenes, but have been known to be called Genshin as well. Within Inazuma, Archon Baal has been confiscating the Visions of her citizens for unknown reasons. The reception to this hostile takeover has been less than compliant, with one of Genshin Impact 2.0's new characters Ayaka commenting, "Perhaps in the eyes of a deity such as the Almighty Shogun, the lives of those who inhabit the world are inconsequential." Luckily for the natives of Inazuma, a resistance of those who have had their Visions stolen or fear the loss of their Visions have banded together against Shogun Baal and her military force.

Genshin Impact's newest resistance group in Inazuma is led by Sangonomiya located on Watasumi Island. The group is dedicated to protecting the Visions of Inazuma citizens, and standing against Baal's current crusade. This resistance group is described as being "threats to Eternity", though given their ultimate goal being preventing the exploitation of the Inazuman people, it stands to reason that not all is what it seems in Genshin Impact's newest region. Their main opponent is an adopted daughter of the Kujou Clan of the Tenryou Commission, who is also a General in the Shogun's army. Her name has yet to be revealed, as has the ultimate goal of the Tenryou Commission, who are seeking to complete some sort of cryptic ceremony. Genshin Impact's 2.0 update livestream revealed many interesting details about the story arc of the Inazuma region, but left viewers with many questions. The exact motivation of confiscating the Visions of Inazuma citizens, and the meaning of "The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia" title is all speculation at this time. Genshin Impact's Inazuma nations releases on July 21, 2021.
