The long-awaited Inazuma region is finally confirmed in Genshin Impact's 2.0 update. At long last, developer miHoYo divulged more information about the new nation during the Version 2.0 livestream. Highly anticipated by fans, Inazuma's introduction has illuminated the distinctive features of Teyvat's third nation.

Originally conceived as the "Ocean Archipelago" in early development, the entire nation of Inazuma in Genshin Impact is bordered by water. As an ocean nation neighboring Liyue, Inazuma is comprised of six different islands. Each unique island is home to distinct factions with certain aspects and scenery different from Mondstadt and Liyue.

Foundational to the area's geographical design, the Electro-rich environment will be an established feature in Inazuma's nation. New interactive mini-puzzles, mechanisms, and vegetation —Naku Weeds and Sakura Blossoms— will be teeming with purple hues and electricity to unify the Element's ecological presence. Inspired by real-world Japan, the topography of Inazuma is designed to distinguish it from previous regions with distinctive styles. However, despite the impressively constructed islands, the internal conflict of the Electro nation and its Archon, Baal, is what largely differentiates this new area from both of Teyvat's known provinces.

While each country has its' own discord for the Traveler to help solve, the intensity of Inazuma's conflict in Genshin Impact's 2.0 update far exceeds that of Mondstadt and Liyue. In Chapter 1 Act 3, Zhongli discusses the nation of Inazuma, and its Electro Archon, Baal, providing insight into the tense situation inside its borders. Baal, also known as the Raiden Shogun, has instituted a Vision Hunt Decree. With the mindset that Visions belong in the "sole dominion of divinity," the Archon has ordered all Visions to be seized inside Inazuma's borders. Whereas  Zhongli (the Geo Archon) and Venti (the Anemo Archon) choose to walk with their people, Baal is asserting her power over those who reside in her nation.

In Genshin Impact's "The Immovable God And The Eternal Euthymia" trailer released by Inazuma's Electro Archon, Baal, believes that the common folk will be ambitionless when stripped of their Visions. However, people "who have lost or fear losing their Visions" are forming resistance groups throughout the nation. With the Traveler being allied with those in rebellion, there are insinuations that the Traveler might be at odds with the Electro Archon, which is vastly different than the previous Archon relationships. However, with Inazuma yet to release, there is still much to learn about the anticipated region. Illustrated as an isolated nation rife with conflict and a deep connection to the Electro Element geographically, Genshin Impact's Inazuma is sure to be a different experience from Mondstadt and Liyue. Fans can look forward to exploring the ocean region and its story on July 21, 2021.
