Genshin Impact 3.3 allows players to rename Wanderer, formerly known as Scaramouche or The Balladeer, to their own liking but, there are some limitations. The character, a clone of Inazuma’s Archon, Ei, has been a notorious villain in the RPG’s storyline, dating back to 2020. In the most recent patch, however, he has redeemed himself of past mistakes, after being manipulated by the Fatui Harbinger known as Il Dottore, The Doctor.
In light of the recent revelations, Wanderer desires to start anew and try to fix the mistakes of the past, only to find out that what’s done is done, and he can only erase his name from history. Of course, he has also been added as a playable character, so players are already looking for the best builds for Wanderer in Genshin Impact. Nonetheless, once the "Archon Interlude Chapter Act III: Inversion of Genesis" reaches its endgame, Wanderer finds himself lacking a new identity.
How To Name Wanderer In Genshin Impact
To name Wanderer in Genshin Impact, players must wait until the popular character asks the Traveler to name him. To the surprise of many, developer HoYoverse offers great leeway when it comes to naming the character, instead of pre-established options. In Genshin Impact 3.3, players can name Wanderer to their own liking - their real-life dog’s name, a dish they like to eat, or something creative that reflects the character’s lore. The freedom provided by HoYo is large but there are a few limitations. Players lucky enough to pull him in the gacha have to that Genshin Impact’s Wanderer will have a team around him, and the name chosen will be displayed in the roster.
What You Can't Name Wanderer In Genshin Impact
As such, at the decisive moment in 3.3, players can finally choose Wanderer’s new name in Genshin Impact but, there is a list of banned words. None of his previous names can be used, so Scaramouche, Balladeer, and Kunikuzushi are out of consideration. Names with special characters will also not be accepted. It is also important that players follow the game’s guidelines to not use any offensive words. Although it may initially be accepted, HoYoverse is at liberty to check and punish players accordingly.
After naming Wanderer and concluding the new quest, players will receive a Precious Item in their inventory called An Appellative Stroke. In case players chose Wanderer over Itto in Genshin Impact and are not satisfied with their initial choice of name, it is possible to use this item to rename him. It is, however, very limited. An Appellative Stroke can only be used once, so they have, at best, two chances to choose the perfect name for their Wanderer. The chosen name will affect his future storyline in the game’s lore, as he will appear as such, even if players are not lucky enough to pull him from the limited-time banner that lasts until December 27.
There are players that chose to not pull for him and are saving up Primogems for Genshin Impact’s reruns of Shogun’s and Ayato’s banners. Version 3.3 is offering players multiple opportunities to score Primogems and increase their chances of getting their desired 5-star characters. Genshin Impact 3.4, on the other hand, should arrive sometime in mid-January 2023, unless it is delayed.
