HoYoverse had previously created many alternate costumes for several characters in Genshin Impact. Most recently, Diluc and Fischl received entirely new outfits for players to use. Despite character skins not affecting any gameplay mechanics, having new garments for characters can improve fan experiences. Among the vast roster of unique characters, some heroes deserve new outfits more than others.
During the Version 1.6 update, HoYoverse first introduced an alternative outfit for Jean in Genshin Impact, which players can still purchase with in-game currency. Players at the time could have also obtained a free Barbara Summer outfit, but fans who missed out on the event will have to purchase the costume from the game shop. During the game's Version 2.4 update, Ningguang and Keqing received new cosmetics that players can trade Primogems in exchange for. Similar to Barbara, Ningguang's outfit was free for fans who participated in the limited-time event.
Due to censorship, HoYoverse eventually provided all players with new costumes for Mona, Jean, Rosaria, and Amber. Despite being free, players had mixed reactions because the alternative outfits are only slight redesigns of the character's original clothing, instead of being entirely new attire. The newest outfits introduced in Genshin Impact are Diluc's Red Dead of Night suit and Fischl's Ein Immernachtstraum dress. There are many fan-favorite characters in the game that deserves new costumes, but characters with existing alternative outfits shown in the game's trailers, manga, or story should be prioritized next.
Genshin Impact: Existing Outfits That Need To Be In The Game
Throughout the story, the elemental gods known as Archons have fascinating lore and background. Brief story cutscenes in Genshin Impact show Venti and Zhongli wearing Archon attires, which symbolizes the legends of the characters' stories. The Archon outfits need to be the next alternative costumes implemented into the game, which HoYoverse should consider as fans are already familiar with the design and will be more willing to spend money as opposed to purchasing a completely new character skin.
Tartaglia (Childe) is another character who should receive an alternate costume. The official trailer that revealed all eleven Fatui Harbingers in Genshin Impact showcased him wearing a very stylized Harbinger coat and uniform. Tartaglia has also been seen changing his appearance during his boss fight within the story. Once when wielding his Delusion and another when using the Foul Legacy Transformation. Unless HoYoverse decides to release identical characters with different gameplay mechanics like many other Gacha games, all three existing outfits should be implemented into the game.
Whether HoYoverse decides to eventually add these existing alternative outfits into the game remains to be seen. However, many fans within the community have voiced overwhelming in wanting these costumes. Ideally, an alternate in-game skin should be created for all the characters in Genshin Impact since every player has different favorites.
