The Raimei Angelfish is a unique type of fish introduced in Genshin Impact 2.1 added all-new fishing gameplay, bringing a fresh, novel challenge for aspiring anglers. The Raimei Angelfish, in particular, is undoubtedly one of the more challenging aquatic wildlife to catch. It requires you to travel quite far out to its location and capture the elusive creature using a specific type of bait.
The Raimei Angelfish resides in Genshin Impact's Inazuma region. However, the recipe for its proper bait is in Mondstadt. As long as you have access to the fast travel Waypoints on the map, it shouldn't be that long of a journey. Once captured, the Raimei Angelfish can be used as a lovely pet for the Serenitea Pot.
How To Catch The Raimei Angelfish
Craft A Lure Designed To Catch The Animal
Before you can try and find the Raimei Angelfish, you first need to get False Worm Bait as a special type of lure. This lure type allows you to catch Shirakodai and Angelfish variants, but you need the recipe for the lure to make it. The recipe can be purchased from the Mondstadt Fishing Association, which can be found outside the walls of the city.

Genshin Impact Fishing: Every Fish Type & What Bait To Use
Fishing was introduced in Genshin Impact's Version 2.1 update. Here are all the current types of fish and the bait needed for a successful catch.
Speak to the NPC vendor Nantuck, who will give you the recipe for the lure in exchange for 3 Medaka. When you have the right blueprint, you can make the lure using these other ingredients:
- 1x Slime Condensate
- 1x Berry
You may want to craft multiple instances of the False Worm Bait at any Crafting Bench within a town to use it multiple times. One instance of the above recipe will yield 10 pieces of Bait, giving you plenty for at least one small fishing trip. Try to make three or four more yields to have enough to almost guarantee a Raimei Angelfish when you cast in the right spots.
Where To Find The Raimei Angelfish
Search Specific Spots To Cast Your Line
The Raimei Angelfish's fishing spot is located off the east coast of Tatarsuna, Kannazuka, one of the islands in Genshin Impact's Inazuma region. More specifically, it sits amidst an electrified shipwreck with Cryo Slimes and an Electro Abyss Mage nearby. After taking out (or avoiding) the hostiles, look for the area where the Raimei swims about.
It is important to note that this type of Angelfish will only spawn from 18:00 to 6:00 (in-game time). Anyone who arrives at the incorrect hour won't see the fish and will have to use the "Wait" mechanic to get them to appear.
Once spotting the fish, go ahead and press the button prompt to begin fishing. Ensure that the correct lure, False Worm Bait, is being used. Cast the line close by the Raimei Angelfish to start the reeling minigame. Fishing in Genshin Impact isn't too difficult; however, the Raimei is a fish that definitely won't give you an easy time.
Make sure to keep the tension bar in check, and don't panic if mistakes are made. Depending on the strength of your fishing rod, you might have an easy time catching an Angelfish that took the Bait or be in for a grueling battle. If you're lucky, you may even catch an Ornamental variant of the Raimei Angelfish, giving yourself an extremely rare animal to put in your Serenitea Pot.
Why Should You Catch A Raimei Angelfish?
Exchange For Rare Items And Earn An Achievement
Once the Raimei Angelfish is caught, you will receive the rare 3-star fish and unlock the achievement "Yon Mirror'd Moon, Broken." Like any fish, you can cook or keep whatever you find, giving yourself food for restoration or a new pet. However, some NPCs in Genshin Impact would trade good items for a fish as rare as a Raimei Angelfish.

How Genshin Impact Could Improve Fishing
Genshin Impact recently added fishing to the game. Even though its only been available for two weeks, fishing is already getting a little boring.
When talking to vendors of the Fishing Association, you can get these items in exchange for Raimei Angelfish and a few other types of aquatic animals:
Item |
Cost |
Description |
---|---|---|
Ako's Sake Vessel |
|
A Weapon Refinement material with a four-star rarity, used to make tools in your arsenal stronger. |
The Catch |
|
Bought from Kujirai Momiji at the Fishing Association. This item is a 4-star Polearm weapon that can be equipped to certain characters. |
You'll need different Bait types to catch the Koi and Pufferfish animals needed to get these items along with your Raimei Angelfish. Like any fish in Genshin Impact, each creature has its own spawn times and locations you may need to find out. Thankfully, you can always adjust your in-game timer at will to make the time of day exactly when you need it to be for collecting certain fish types.
No matter what you choose to do with an Angelfish, it has a variety of uses that make it worth hunting down. The rarity of a Raimei Angelfish makes it a fish you want to learn how to catch and farm in Electro-infused waters to sell for plenty of currency in Genshin Impact.
