Weekly bosses in Genshin Impact are essential for upgrading characters. They drop essential materials to level up talents, as well as some other good rewards like weapon billets and Dream Solvents. However, some of Genshin Impact's older weekly bosses are slowly losing their value over time.

The most recent weekly boss to be added to Genshin Impact was the End of the Oneiric Euthymia, or more simply the Raiden Shogun boss. This boss offers three more unique Talent materials for players to spend their Resin on weekly, which is a good investment since at least the next few characters added in the future (as of the time of writing) will be using this boss's materials. Since the Raiden Shogun boss is a good investment of Resin for current and future characters, it is never a waste of a player's time or Resin to farm this boss.

However, the exact same cannot be said for the weekly bosses found in Mondstadt: Stormterror and Andrius. While these bosses are essential for newer players to upgrade their characters, veteran players likely do not need to spend their Resin in Genshin Impact on these bosses, unless they specifically want to build an older character. Instead, they could potentially become a waste of Resin for players.

Veteran players have likely already farmed Stormterror and Andrius enough to build the characters that require their unique Talent materials. This means that these bosses would likely only get farmed for a chance at either a weapon billet or a Dream Solvent, but neither of these drops is guaranteed, so players could end up spending their time and Resin for no useful rewards. This ends up begging the question of some sort of change that could be implemented to Genshin Impact to make these bosses worth revisiting to older players.

There are a couple of things that HoYoverse could do to make weekly bosses worth revisiting for players that don't need their materials. One is that another material similar to Dream Solvent in Genshin Impact could be introduced that instead of only being able to convert materials that come from the same weekly boss, this new material could convert any weekly boss material to any different one. This would incentivize players to keep up stock of older weekly boss materials so that they could be converted for future characters.

Another change is that players could be given an option to no longer receive a weekly boss's unique Talent materials for an increased chance of getting a weapon billet or Dream Solvent, or maybe other rewards as well like the elemental gemstones needed to ascend characters. If there was a noticeable increase in billet and Solvent drops, it would be another incentivization to farm older bosses. As the older bosses stand now, there isn't too much incentive to farm them unless players have rolled for an older character that received a rerun, like Venti in Genshin Impact.

There are many ways HoYoverse could go to give older weekly bosses in Genshin Impact more value. While a change like this is unlikely, it would be a great benefit to the game and give players more things to do. Since more and more weekly bosses are going to be added to Genshin Impact over time, a change is likely going to be needed to keep older content relevant.
