Warning: SPOILERS for Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage season 1, episode 22, "Big Decisions."
After the George Sr.’s death in Young Sheldon that it seems pretty far removed from anything the characters might go on to do as adults. But one detail complicates that notion.
In the season 1 finale, most of the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage cast find themselves divided by whether Jim should sell the tire store. Fans of The Big Bang Theory might immediately see where this is going, since it’s known from the flagship series that Georgie buys his own store and turns it into a major franchise. And while the Georgie & Mandy season 1 finale does set Georgie on that path, there are a couple of details that don’t make sense considering what The Big Bang Theory already established about Georgie’s future.
Georgie Blames Sheldon’s Expenses For The Extra Struggle In Founding Dr. Tire In TBBT
He Feels That Sheldon’s Trip Wiped The Coopers’ Finances
In what turns out to be a great deal for Jim and Audrey in Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage but a bum deal for the title characters, Jim spends most of the season 1 finale fighting himself over whether to sell his store to competitor Fred Fagenbacher. It seems obvious that Georgie will try to save the day by buying the store himself, but that recalls one of the primary reasons he gives for resenting his little brother when he’s first introduced in The Big Bang Theory.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Season 1 Finale Review: I Fear Mandy Is Becoming The Sequel's True Villain
After Young Sheldon, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage successfully transitions to a new family, but its story, including the finale's, is so familiar.
Georgie resents Sheldon over numerous things, such as the fact that he always looked out for Sheldon in high school without receiving any gratitude. But one of his big sources of contention comes from the fact that the Cooper family spent so much sending Sheldon to Europe that Georgie was forced to save up for the tire store on his own. He only has two days in the finale to acquire the money, so it’s naturally fascinating to see how he’ll earn enough cheddar to buy a store in that time. Sadly, the Georgie & Mandy finale takes another route.
Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Season 1 Finale Contradicts Georgie’s TBBT Story
Mary Cooper Hardly Mentions Sheldon When Helping To Buy The Store
While casual viewers may consider the age difference between Georgie and Mandy to be one of the more problematic aspects of the show, long-time franchise buffs sometimes take far more issue with the sheer number of plot points from The Big Bang Theory that the spinoffs seem to forget. Georgie buying Dr. Tire out of pocket has actually been a plot hole since Young Sheldon sent the younger Cooper brother to , largely because it’s established that the family didn’t pay for his studies as claimed in Big Bang.

Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage Is Making Young Sheldon's Missy Crime Worse
Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage episode 20 briefly showcased Missy misbehaving as usual, revealing its continuation of Young Sheldon's Missy crime.
In Young Sheldon, the future physicist’s German studies are primarily financed by Grant Linkletter and Mary’s church. Mary does confess in the Georgie & Mandy season 1 finale that she often overlooks Georgie in favor of Sheldon, but she makes it up to Georgie by offering her house as collateral so Georgie and Ruben can buy Jim’s tire store together. Not only did Georgie not have to buy the store on his own, but he had the help of both family and a casual rival. In that light, the reasoning behind his animosity toward Sheldon makes little sense.
How Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage Can Still Explain TBBT Plot Hole
There’s No Confirmation That Jim’s Store Becomes Dr. Tire
Since Pastor Jeff’s role in The Big Bang Theory is non-existent, it follows that the idea of Sheldon financing his German studies through the church wouldn’t have been in the pipeline when Georgie’s first appearance was written. However, the Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage season 1 finale could have adjusted the tire store plot to resolve the pre-existing plot hole. And, while it’s extraordinarily subtle, there’s actually a chance that they did just that.

1 George & Mandy's First Marriage Character Has Officially Become The Young Sheldon Spinoff’s Breakout Star
Young Sheldon's spinoff Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage typically centers its title characters, but someone else has emerged as its breakout star.
When talking about the future, Georgie and Ruben discuss changing the store’s sign if they do enough business. But since The Big Bang Theory never mentions Georgie having a partner, it’s possible that Jim’s shop isn’t actually the storefront that becomes the first Dr. Tire at all. Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage could still have a long way to go before the elder Cooper sibling takes his first real steps toward living his dream as a franchise mogul with a tire-shaped pool. Jim’s store could just be the first step of many on the road to Georgie’s exceptionally bright future.
