Missy will be different when she returns in Young Sheldon finale aired, Chuck Lorre and his team are back on set for the next expansion series in the Big Bang Theory universe. This time, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage will continue Montana Jordan and Emily Osment's new lives. The McAllisters will be more prominently featured in the new spinoff sequel, with Mandy's parents, Jim and Audrey, being series regulars. That said, the Coopers will also have some presence, including Missy.

We’re going to see a slightly different Missy. She’s gone through the loss of her dad and she’s acting out. She’s [becoming] rebellious. [Georgie]’s trying to balance being a husband and a father and also being a caretaker to his sister, who’s having some struggles.

George's Death Derailed Missy's Redemption

As heartbreaking as this is for those who root for Missy, this part of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage's story is mandated by The Big Bang Theory canon.

Young Sheldon's penultimate episode ended with the revelation that George unexpectedly died of a heart attack while at work. The first half of the finale was devoted to tackling the fallout from that tragedy, showing how the Coopers were dealing with the sudden loss of their patriarch. While Georgie stepped up to take care of his father's affairs and Sheldon tried running away from his grief, Missy resorted to lashing out. Throughout the finale, her mood was up and down, but per Holland's new reveal, there is no redemption for her in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage.

During Georgie and Sheldon's emotional confrontation just before the latter's wedding, his older brother revealed that he took care of the family after George died. Mary was unable to function because she was crippled by grief. Meanwhile, Missy was being a dumb teenager. He had to oversee the Coopers while also taking care of his own family, although he didn't mention the latter part in The Big Bang Theory.

It's unfortunate that Missy will continue down this path in Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage. Multiple times throughout Young Sheldon's run, she proved that she was the most compelling Cooper sibling, and yet, she ended up being the least successful among the three. Whether she will get some kind of redemption in the new show is uncertain thus far. Luckily, she has Georgie by her side to her.
