PlayStation 4 exclusive. Sony recently featured the samurai game in its latest State of Play presentation to show off the its beautiful open-world and combat.

Ghost of Tsushima is the latest game from developer Sucker Punch, which also developed the Japanese voice track with English subtitles as well as a cinema mode which makes the visuals look like an Akira Kurosawa film.

Speaking with GAMINGBible, Ghost of Tsushima director Nate Fox talked about how Red Dead Redemption was the biggest inspiration for Ghost of Tsushima because of its historical open-world setting, memorable character interactions, and immersive player movement. He said, "I would say the number one inspiration for the title was Red Dead Redemption - not Red Dead 2 but Red Dead Redemption, [sic] - because they did such a fantastic job bringing the fantasy of being an outlaw cowboy to life.”

Fox also talked about how newer games like explore its sprawling open world.

The influence of Red Dead Redemption and other games, such as Assassin’s Creed, on Ghost of Tsushima is pretty apparent from the recent State of Play presentation, and it shows how invested Sucker Punch is at creating a game that feels incredibly immersive and engaging. Hopefully, all the work the studio has put into the game will pay off. With only a couple of months left until the game finally releases, it won’t be long before fans see if the additional wait from the delayed release was worth it.
