The Assassin is the stealth killer of the Legends mode in completing the most challenging missions. Assassins rely a lot on doing a considerable amount of damage at one time. They don't have the range a Hunter has but can be the close-up version of them. They require their skills to be on a non-stop rotation to make quick work of anything in their path.

There are a few ways to build the Assassin though it's essential to know their strengths to play them. Getting in close is paramount, and their class ability takes care of that nicely. They could be built around the poison aspect, although that takes away from their speed, which is the best ability to take a back seat with the Assassin class. Quick kills will serve the Assassin best, especially in Nightmare Survival, where Fire will rain down consistently. They can't heal on their own unless they have gear that dishes some healing out to best to play it stealthily rather than toe-to-toe fights to avoid taking damage.

What Is The Best Build For The Assassin In Ghost Of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima - Deadly Pose

The Assassin build in Ghost of Tsushima will involve many massive damage strikes optimized for getting cooldowns to reset as fast as possible. The Techniques will revolve around Group Vanish, Super Strike, Experienced Assassin, and Chain Vanish. In Nightmare Survival, if players don't have Experienced Assassin, they will get killed by the Fire Spirits. Having Experienced Assassin will let players assassinate and roll out of damage, getting that needed kill. Here is the optimal gear setup:

  • Water Katana: Melee Resolve Gain and Ability Cooldown Reduction - Way of the Flame
  • Blowgun: Stealth Attack Damage and Status Effect Damage - Hallucination Darts
  • Assassin Charm: Stealth Attack Damage and Cooldown Reduction on Kill - Chain Vanish
  • Spirit Kunai: Cooldown Reduction and Cooldown Reduction on Kill - Super Massive
  • Smoke Bomb: Stealth Attack Damage and Cooldown Reduction on Kill - Munitions

The logic behind this set up revolves around a lot of Cooldown Reduction and Stealth Attack Damage. It's balanced enough where Melee Resolve Gain is useful as well. This build is a great guideline, and there can be a few tweaks depending on the sword a player might enjoy more, but having at least Water Stance is handy for its rapid triangle button attacks. The Hallucination Darts can set enemies up and help to buy some time if needed. When enemies are about to die, an excellent tip hit them with the Spirit Kunai legendary item to get 15% cooldowns back. It shoots out two kunai at a time, so if it hits a second enemy and kills them, that becomes a 30% cooldown reduction as well.
