Sucker Punch has teamed up with Nixxes to bring its acclaimed samurai epic, Ghost of Tsushima, to PC on May 16, 2024. Ghost of Tsushima was highly requested by PC gamers after Sony began its venture to bring more of its acclaimed PlayStation-exclusive catalog to the platform with titles such as the first two Marvel's Spider-Man titles - which were also successfully ported by Nixxes - God of War, and The Last of Us Part 1.

Ghost of Tsushima was one of 2020's best games and was released as a PlayStation 4 exclusive mere months before the launch of the PlayStation 5. Its acclaimed story saw Jin Sakai struggling to maintain the way of the Samurai and honor his family's legacy while protecting Tsushima Island from the Mongolian forces that deployed more devious tactics during their invasion. Over time, however, he realizes that he needs to become something more to defeat such formidable foes and begins incorporating more stealth-based tactics into his approach, becoming the legendary Ghost of Tsushima.

All Of The Ghost Of Tsushima: Director's Cut Content Is Coming To PC

This Includes A Story Expansion And Multiplayer Mode

Much like the aforementioned titles, PC players will be getting the most complete version of the game with the Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut version at launch. This version was released on PS4 and PS5 just over a year after Ghost of Tsushima's original launch, with those who previously bought the game on PS4 only having to pay an play it on either platform. The Director's Cut edition includes the main game as well as the Iki Island expansion and cooperative online multiplayer Legends mode that were added to the original game after its launch.

The Iki Island story expansion also introduced new armor, accessories, & dyes to the game.

Despite being set in Japan and having the option for a Japanese dub, the PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut introduced Japanese lip-syncing through that console's ability to render cinematics in real-time. This will be included in the PC version of the game, and can also be paired with the black and white Kurosawa mode - inspired by and named after the legendary filmmaker Akira Kurosawa - to make for a more authentic experience akin to watching one of his Samurai epics such as Seven Samurai, Yojimbo or Sanjuro.

The PC Version Of Ghost Of Tsushima Is Getting Additional Enhancements

Ultrawide Display And Upscaling Technology Makes Ghost Of Tsushima Look Better Than Ever

Ghost of Tsushima is one of PlayStation's most stunning games, using particle simulations to constantly have leaves, blossom, ash, and more blowing through the air across its vast landscapes, creating an eerily tranquil beauty among the horrors of war. This is only further being improved with the PC versions, which will be able to utilize some of the more powerful hardware on offer to enhance these visuals.

The PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut improved load times, 4k resolution options, and framerates "targeting" 60 FPS, but Nixxes detailed in a PlayStation Blog post that it is utilizing the latest performance-enhancing technologies to further improve these features on PC. Both upscaling and frame generation options are available through the AI-based NVIDIA DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) 3, AMD FSR (FidelityFX™ Super Resolution) 3, and Intel XeSS (Xe Super Sampling), the latter of which can be used across graphics cards from multiple vendors.

NVIDIA DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing) and AMD FSR 3 Native AA - which is a pure anti-aliasing option with no upscaling taking place - can also be used to further boost image quality.

Ghost of Tsushima will also have unlocked frame rates on PC, as well as a variety of graphics settings and presets, including ultrawide monitor . The title is fully optimized for Ultrawide 21:9 and Super Ultrawide 32:9 resolutions and s 48:9 resolutions for triple monitor setups, letting players experience more of the expansive terrain and ancient landmarks with a cinematic field of view.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut will feature both extensive controller via Steam Input and customizable mouse and keyboard controls so players can use the peripheral of their choice to play the game. In the aforementioned PlayStation Blog post, Sony and Nixxes still, somewhat unsurprisingly, recommend playing the PC version of Ghost of Tsushima on a PlayStation DualSense controller to make the most of its haptic and adaptive triggers for a more immersive experience.

While Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut is currently available for pre-order on Steam, there's no word on whether the game will also come to Steam Deck. Nixxes' Marvel's Spider-Man ports and most of the other PlayStation titles that have come to PC have been marked as "Verified" on Valve's handheld device, which suggests that players may also be able to take Jin Sakai's acclaimed adventure on the go with them without the reliance on a stable WiFi connection that the PlayStation Portal handheld requires.
