Sucker Punch Productions' island of Tsushima, and they must utilize both honorable and dishonorable techniques in order to protect their home from the invading Mongolians.

Judging from the reviews for Ghost of Tsushima, the game will be a hit among most open world enthusiasts, but it's likely some of them are a little curious about how hard the game actually is. Thankfully, while the game does offer a decent challenge for most players (especially at first, before Jin has fully upgraded his arsenal and abilities) it isn't as hard as some players may have feared, although those who go looking for such difficulty can certainly find it.

For most players, the normal difficulty will offer an experience with the same level of challenge found in the recent game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. There are multiple difficulty modes in Ghost of Tsushima for players to choose from, and if they begin to find themselves dying to the same enemies over and over the game will offer them the option to skip that particular fight.

What Ghost of Tsushima's Difficulty Modes Are

Ghost of Tsushima has three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Hard. Easy is described as being for players who just want to experience the story "with minimal challenge." Normal is the mode for players who are looking for "a well-rounded gameplay experience" while still receiving a "moderate challenge" in combat. Hard, the third and difficulty setting, is described as the mode "for players unafraid of death who are brave enough to face the ultimate challenge."

Speaking to the Washington Postthe game's creative director, Jason Connell, spoke about the importance of having different difficulty settings in Ghost of Tsushima and why they stayed away from following the FromSoftware approach. "It can't be so hard that you give up in the first 15 minutes... That would be very frustrating for a lot of people who have a lot to gain because they love this medium or this genre. But it also can't be so easy that there's no challenge to some of our biggest, most hardcore fans."

There's a lot to discover in Ghost of Tsushima's open world, and so it's good that players of all skill levels should be able to find a comfortable way of doing so. While Ghost of Tsushima may still offer a bit of a challenge to players, especially during some of the game's more intense samurai duels, it's nothing they can't overcome, either with practice or with a switch to a lower difficulty setting.
