The release date for the much-anticipated Ghost of Yotei's release date has been rumored for a while now, but the leaks and rumors appear to have been incorrect. Luckily, we now have a concrete release date, a haunting new trailer, and all the various editions and pre-order bonuses revealed.

As posted on PlayStation Blog, Ghost of Yotei will be released on October 2, and pre-orders will go live on May 2. Pre-order any edition of Ghost of Yōtei you’ll receive a unique in-game mask, as well as a set of seven PSN avatars featuring concept art of Atsu and each member of the Yōtei Six at launch. In addition to the Standard Edition, two more editions will also be available, the Digital Deluxe Edition and a Collector's Edition. The game can also be wishlisted right now.

In the new trailer, more story details have also been confirmed. Protagonist Atsu will hunt down six of an outlaw gang called the Yōtei Six: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito, after they murdered her family and pinned her to a burning tree, leaving her for dead.

Ghost Of Yotei Is Releasing On October 2, 2025

Pre-Orders Will Begin On May 2

Despite a lot of summer release rumors that would've paralleled the release of the original Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yotei will instead be releasing at the beginning of October. This will put it in the more traditional AAA game release window of fall. The Standard Edition of the game will be $69.99 USD, which may ease some anxieties regarding future game prices since the controversial Mario Kart World price was revealed.

Ghost of Yotei will fit right in with the rest of both the surprising and highly anticipated games for 2025. Earlier this month, the remaster of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was shadow dropped yesterday, as well, so there have been a lot of surprises so far in 2025, and many more to come, most likely.

With these new story details, a release date, and a lot of news about the game's various editions, this slew of information may be enough to tide Ghost of Yotei fans over until the game's release in October. The wait for the sequel to one of the most beloved PS4 games is nearing its end.
