One original Ghostbusters star has an idea for a spinoff series taking place after the events of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, pitching their ideas on what the show could entail. The latest entry in the supernatural comedy series saw old and new characters come together to confront Garraka, a new entity threatening to destroy the world with ice. The movie also introduced plenty of new concepts to the franchise, such as Winston's new program studying various supernatural entities he's captured.

Speaking with end of Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The actor explained how his new ghost studies could lead to a show involving multiple spirits being captured and influencing the physical world. Check out Hudson's pitch for the series below:

It kind of happens in Frozen Empire, he has his research center. He's trying to figure out, what's this all about? Who are these ghosts? Do we bust them all the same? Are all the ghosts deserve to be trapped/ Are we here to help them transition? How do they impact our lives? So suddenly you start to see a whole section of the city start to get violent, maybe they're being influenced. My grandmother, who believed in ghosts, she felt that ghosts can't move furniture, but they can move your emotions around, and when you start getting these thoughts about stuff, that's coming from someplace, and maybe that's the influence. And if you can eliminate those bad ghosts, then maybe you break that cycle. We're treating people from a physical standpoint, maybe there's something else going on supernatural that's influencing. So it's not just what happens in the ghost world, but how the ghost world is throwing off [the physical world]. We did a little bit of it in the second movie, with the slime, where suddenly the whole town was out of control.

Ghosts definitely affect our thoughts, our feelings, our suspicions. The Bible talks about ghost spirits are like messengers: they bring these ideas to us, and they feed us, and suddenly you become possessed with this idea of your girlfriend cheating or something. Where's that coming from? That's not something that you're necessarily doing, but you're allowing in. So I would love to see Winston trap this series of ghosts that people can't see, but we have the equipment, we know they're there, and suddenly a town is sort of freed up. Suddenly the mass murderer decides to no longer have interest in it.

Would A Winston Spinoff Show Work?

Winston's continued interest in the supernatural makes him the perfect candidate for a spinoff series, as he's shown to work directly with ghosts in his newfound studies. While Garraka did a lot of damage to where he was studying ghosts before, his interest doesn't seem to be deterred by the end of the movie. If anything, it seems more likely that he's going to build his research back up again, requiring him to hunt down more ghosts in order to do so. This would make his story continuing the perfect next step for the franchise.

However, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's mixed reviews coupled with a lackluster box office performance makes it unclear what the next direction for the series will be. While it seems likely the story will continue with both new and original characters, the form it takes is currently unclear. However, a TV show might be the perfect way for the franchise to keep going, fleshing out the world without worry for box office numbers. Winston's journey could be the perfect reprieve, offering a different type of story with a continuous plot.

Although there's been no confirmation surrounding a possible Ghostbusters 6 nor concrete plans for where the franchise is heading next, Hudson's pitch is an interesting and doable idea. It could offer the franchise a new way of continuing its story while maintaining the elements that made it popular in the first place. Although Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire wasn't a massive hit for the series, it could still usher in a new way for the series to continue.
