The spirits of the CBS Ghosts' spirits are from different periods and have strong personalities defined by the times they died. The culture of their eras affects their afterlife, especially considering they are bound to the clothing of their respective eras despite existing in the present.

The series has established that the ghosts can feel and smell things despite their fractured tether to the material world. Therefore, the ghosts in the CBS series are keenly aware of their forever outfits. Wish as they might, they can't change the clothing or accessories they died in. When Pete (Richie Moriarty) takes his arrow out of his neck, it snaps right back. Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) gets around this when he takes the ribbon out of his hair and lets his hair down, but for the most part, there are limited options to change.

8 Hetty

Victorian Era Fashion

There's no doubt that Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) is the least comfortable spirit in Ghosts. Hetty wears a tight, dark teal Victorian dress with a high-neck bodice and a flouncy skirt. Ghosts also established that Hetty wears a corset, which was most popular during her era, designed to create an hourglass figure by compressing a woman's stomach and contracting her ribs. Thus, Hetty experiences unique challenges of relaxing and becoming comfortable compared to the other spirits. Sadly, even during her time, many women slept in their corsets to "train their waist," which permanently deformed their organs.

Hetty has to deal with her limiting Victorian-era fashion and something permanently pulling at her neck.

Beyond her dress, Hetty's ghost death further defines how much she can relax in her afterlife. When the ghosts find Flower (Sheila Carrasco) stuck in the well in "Holes Are Bad," it looks like they won't be able to save her until Hetty reveals a telephone cord wrapped around her neck. Trevor (Asher Grodman) alludes to all the layers she wears since he's intimate with her. Hetty has to deal with her limiting Victorian-era fashion and something permanently pulling at her neck, which makes it impossible for her to relax, which adds up as she doesn't sleep well.

7 Isaac

Revolutionary War Attire

Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) has to be one of the most uncomfortable spirits in Ghosts. While his wife Beatrice ensures that the Revolutionary War soldier dies in his best clothing, he is uncomfortable in the afterlife. Isaac wears a tan vest and breeches with black boots. He wears a navy jacket with golden shoulder epaulets. Isaac's outfit is trimmed with white cuffs and lace, and he wears a frilly, white cravat around his neck and under his vest. While Isaac has pants and an outfit that otherwise allows for movement, it's more sophisticated and formal than the others.

Still, Isaac died before industrialization, so his 1700s clothes would have been crafted from cotton, linen, hemp, and wool. While the natural fibers would comfort the Continental Congress member, his tight boots and clothes are still more formal and constraining than others. Plus, any wool in Isaac's outfit could be itchy. While Isaac is in the perfect outfit for something more formal and dressed up than the other spirits at any time, it would be a stretch to say that his outfit is relaxed. Isaac's tight clothes make him more limited than the other ghosts.

6 Trevor

1990s Corporate Business Attire

Trevor has some of the most conflicting outfit elements regarding comfort. On one hand, Trevor doesn't wear pants in the afterlife since he lent them to a friend just before his death in a hero move. Still, the rest of Trevor's outfit is pretty dressy, outweighing the easygoing nature of his bottomless suit. Above the waist, Trevor wears a blue button-down shirt with a business suit jacket and a patterned tie. Trevor's untucked button-down shirt and suit jacket wouldn't be so bad to sleep in, but again, his tie would outweigh any comfortable elements of his top.

Below the belt, Trevor is pantless but wears argyle socks and black dress shoes. Trevor's shoes might not be the least comfortable of the bunch, since they're designed for formal events rather than practicality. It's implied that Trevor doesn't even wear underwear in Ghosts, which could be uncomfortable on many levels. While nothing is limiting to the fashion, it might be too much of a good thing, and there are probably times that Trevor would rather have a pair of boxers on. In addition, Trevor's outfit is socially uncomfortable, as he exposes himself to everyone around him.

5 Pete

1980s Scout Troop Fatigues

The scout troop leader's garb would be pretty comfortable since Pete's outfit would be designed for mobility and outdoor activities such as camping and archery. Pete wears a button-up shirt decorated with scout badges and loose-fitting above-the-knee shorts, tolerable for sleeping and general activities around the house. Pete also wears hiking boots designed to his feet on different terrain. Pete's outfit perfectly s his Ghosts' spirit power, which allows him a broader scope of mobility than the other spirits since he can leave the property and access more geographically diverse landscapes.

Still, Pete's outfit has some noteworthy drawbacks. Pete wears a neckerchief, which would feel limiting, considering the scout troop leader can't loosen its grip. Remarkably, Pete also has an arrow in his neck. The object that caused his death isn't officially a part of his outfit but is a post-mortem accessory he sports, no less. Pete even takes the arrow out of his neck at one point, noting that the weapon is "itchy." As much as Pete's outfit was designed to keep him comfortable in all environments, the cause of his death renders the chipper ghost's outfit intolerable.

4 Thor

1000s-Era Viking Fashion

Thor (Devan Chalder Long) is a Viking ghost from the early 1000s. As such, Thor has a rugged dress code designed for exploring the land. Thus, Thor's outfit is versatile and optimizes mobility. Thor wears a combination of a cloth shirt, furs, and some armor. While his outfit is slightly more rigid-looking than others, Thor's clothing would have comprised natural fibers such as wool, linen, leather, and silk. Although Thor's clothing smells like wolf urine, which would be uncomfortable for some, Thor has expressed that he likes the smell, putting him at ease.

Thor was a Viking who probably wore his outfit while he slept, including some of his leather straps and armor.

Thor is adorned with a shield and some armor, which would be an uncomfortable part of his outfit. Still, Thor was a Viking who probably wore his outfit while he slept, including some of his leather straps and armor. Thor has a sturdy, burly build. He likely finds all the armor and tools more comforting than uncomfortable. Thor is more comfortable than other ghosts like Pete, Trevor, or Isaac because he wears natural materials designed for hunting and exploring the land, which would have been optimized for long-term wear, possibly for days or months.

3 Alberta

Prohibition-Era Evening Wear

Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) is pretty comfortable in Ghosts, especially since the Prohibition-era jazz club singer wears a long, velvet dress. Not barred to a tight shirt or pants in the afterlife, Alberta's outfit would be pretty comfortable for sleeping and hanging out around the house. Despite that, more formal elements of Alberta's outfit are restrictive, like the hat she permanently wears or the many strings of pearls around her neck. While Flower also wears jewelry in the afterlife, Alberta's accessories are dressier and more limiting, much less comfortable to wear outside a formal environment, let alone to sleep in.

Alberta’s dress would be more or less comfortable, depending on the fabric. Considering the era, the velvet material would have either comprised silk or synthetic silk. The synthetic fabrics and materials available in Alberta’s post-industrial era could have been itchy.

Alberta doesn't have the same limitations as some other ghosts, but the dressier parts of her outfit, like a tassel-trimmed shawl, are designed more for show than practicality. Her outfit is looser-fit but less cozy, even if she doesn't have to wear pants. While ghosts like Thor also have accessories they're bound to, they are more practical and designed for daily use and wear, putting the others at an advantage for mobility. Alberta must also wear a dressier shoe with a slight heel, which wouldn't be as comfortable as Thor's or Pete's boots.

2 Sasappis

Traditional Lenape Dress

Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) is from the Lenape group that occupied the Hudson Valley, comprising parts of New York where Woodstone Mansion is located. Sass wears traditional Lenape dress, which consists of durable clothing made of natural materials. Sasappis wears a breechclout, leggings, and mocassins. As with many tribes of the Northeastern Woodlands, Sassapis wears clothing made of deer hides. The indigenous people hunted the deer for food but then used all parts of the animal to sustain their livelihood, including its hide for clothing or its bones for weapons and tools.

A breechcloth is a one-piece garment comprised of front and back flaps held up by strings designed to cover the region below the waist and above the knees.

The deer hides that Sasappis wears are made of a soft material. They would have been worn-in and comfortable, especially with continual wear. The natural fibers also would have provided ample movement, which was needed for the Lenape peoples' active lifestyle, which included hunting, gathering, and farming. Deer hide is a breathable fabric with a supple feel, softer than cowhide and other leathers. As such, there can be no doubt that Sasappis has one of the best outfits for the afterlife, adorned in soft leather built to last.

1 Flower

Counterculture Fashion

There's no doubt Flower is the most comfortable ghost at Woodstone. Flower effortlessly rocks her 1960s counterculture hippie fashions, crafted for comfort and sustainability. The hippie wears a long, quilted skirt that allows for free movement. She wears a lightweight, off-white crocheted top, probably woven from thick cotton. She wears a necklace, a few rings, and a fabric cuff around her left wrist. Still, none of Flower's accessories are tight or limiting. Any of the accessories that Flower dons could be slept or bathed in and wouldn't be as limited as someone like Alberta or Thor's accessories.

Flower's outfit is the kind that you could accidentally fall asleep in and then wear the next day without issue, which Flower probably did while she was alive.

Lastly, Flower wears Birkenstock-style sandals. Other than Sasappis, Flower would have the most comfortable, versatile shoes of all the spirits, and they perfectly top off her easygoing outfit. Even Flower's hair is relaxed, though slightly unkempt, and able to freely move while sleeping or hanging out, contrasting Hetty or Alberta in Ghosts. Flower's outfit is the kind that you could accidentally fall asleep in and then wear the next day without issue, which Flower probably did while she was alive. Flower talks about attending a musical festival before her death, and her outfit was perhaps intended to be worn throughout.
