Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes had a one-of-a-kind relationship. When the people of Stars Hollow thought they were arguing, it was really just their form of communication. Bickering and sarcasm was their main form of speaking to each other. The two have been close friends for years and they know that they can say things to each other that no one else ever could. They were connected.

Things got trickier when Lorelai and Luke started dating. Secrets kept making themselves known and interfering with their happily ever after. Eventually, Luke and Lorelai found a way to be happy but they had plenty of fights throughout Gilmore Girls.

Lorelai Wanted A Jeep

It took some time for Lorelai and Luke to be friends again after they called off their engagement. For starters, Lorelai jumped into Chris's arms almost immediately, so Luke needed time away from her. But when Lorelai and Luke were both single again, they slowly tiptoed back into the friend pool.

Luke accompanied Lorelai on her excursion for a new car but the day ended with them bickering at each other. It was almost like no time had ed and they were back to their old selves. Their little fight in the parking lot was oddly the start of their new friendship.

Was Lorelai Seeing Jason Or Not?

When Lorelai and Jason broke up, she spent all her time focusing on opening The Dragonfly Inn. At this time, Luke realized he has romantic feelings for Lorelai and wanted to pursue them, but when he saw Jason at the inn's opening weekend, he became infuriated. Why was he trying so hard if she had a boyfriend?

Luke yelled at Lorelai because he felt like an idiot. Meanwhile, Lorelai is playing catch-up and figuring out what was happening. She had to calm Luke down by telling him she was not with Jason and that she was, in fact, interested in Luke. This fight was short-lived but it was intense.

When Luke Moved In With Nicole

"In the Clamor and the Clangor" showed one of Luke and Lorelai's more telling arguments. In the episode prior, Lorelai found out that Luke and Nicole got married but were also looking to get divorced.

While Lorelai was trying to wrap her head around it, she and Luke got into an argument when she found out that Luke and Nicole moved into an apartment together while they were getting divorced. Lorelai felt out of the loop and that she didn't know Luke anymore. Likewise, Luke felt judged by Lorelai and didn't appreciate her prodding nature.

When Lorelai Found Out About April

Fans were shocked when Lorelai and Luke didn't fight longer and harder about April. Luke knew about his secret child for months and never told his fiancée. To make matters worse, Lorelai found out about April on a whim when she met her at Luke's Diner.

Lorelai felt in the dark and left behind in her relationship with Luke but she gave him space to figure the whole dad thing out. And while the realization that her fiance had a child didn't cause the kind of fight viewers expected, this caused long-lasting tension in their relationship.

The Street-Crossing Showdown

This has got to be one of the more tense moments in Lorelai and Luke's relationship. After calling off their engagement and finding out that Lorelai slept with Christopher, the two ran into each other at a crosswalk. Lorelai told Luke that she was sorry and that the situation was hard. She wasn't doing well and hoped he was okay.

Shockingly, Luke showed zero remorse or concern for Lorelai. He told her he wasn't affected, he was fine, and it was her who proposed to him in the first place; he didn't care that they were no longer seeing each other. Lorelai's jaw was on the ground throughout the entire interaction.

Jess & Lorelai's Beer

When Luke took Jess in, the entire town had their guards up around Jess. He appeared like a bad seed who was up to no good. Luke had no choice but to try and change Jess's life and expected his friend Lorelai to him. But when Lorelai found Jess getting into her beer, she changed her tune.

She told Luke that Jess was a bad kid, which spiraled into a fight between the pair. Luke thought Lorelai came off all-knowing and that she knew everything about parenting. He never once got in her way over parenting Rory and found it unjust for her to not give him the same courtesy.

Jess & Rory's Car Accident

Lorelai yells at Luke

When Jess and Rory got into a car accident, Luke was the last to know. Rory called her mom while in the hospital and told her what happened, but when Lorelai arrived at the hospital, Jess was no longer there. He was too ashamed to meet the tornado head-on.

When Lorelai left the hospital, she ran to Luke's to confront Jess but he wasn't there. Luke had no idea what happened and had to beg Lorelai for answers. The two got into a screaming match over their loyalties to their respective kids. It took the couple a long time before they were able to be friendly again after this fight.

When Christopher Called, All Hell Broke Loose

When Christopher practically broke up Lorelai and Luke at the vow renewal, his name was a sore subject when they eventually got back together. Lorelai ignored Christopher for a year before he came crawling back and left a message on her voicemail. But as Lorelai was listening to the voicemail, Luke came and heard his voice.

Lorelai quickly deleted the message so that Luke wouldn't get mad but it was too late. It looked incredibly sketchy that Lorelai was hiding voicemails from Christopher. Luke was enraged afterward.

The Vow Renewal Breakup

Speaking of the vow renewal... Richard and Emily's vow renewal was off to a great start. Lorelai and Luke were really connecting and enjoying themselves. They clearly loved each other. Their connection, however, enraged Christopher. He knew he was losing Lorelai and wanted to do something about it.

He and Luke got into a screaming match after catching Rory making out with Logan. Christopher reminded Luke that he was not Rory's father and that he and Lorelai belonged together. The whole ordeal was so traumatic, Luke broke up with Lorelai over it.

When She Slept With Christopher

No fight was greater between Lorelai and Luke when Lorelai told Luke that she slept with Christopher. She gave Luke an ultimatum: they either eloped that night or they were done. Luke wasn't ready to elope on the spot – it caught him off-guard. Without knowing what to do, Lorelai drove to Christopher's house and slept with him.

The next morning, however, Luke told her that he was ready to get married and apologized. It was at that moment that Lorelai told Luke the truth. He was so devastated, he didn't say a word. He left her house and that was it. Viewers could feel the anger through the screen.
