Why Glen Powell Would Be Perfect For The DCU’s Batman
The Actor Has The Skills For The Role
Before his latest reveal regarding superhero roles, Powell had become the fan-favorite for two announced characters for the DCU. The actor was one of the top choices among fans to lead DC's Green Lantern series, Lanterns, as the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern or to play the title character in Booster Gold. However, Powell's desire to only play Batman if he were to get cast as a superhero makes those other great choices very unlikely to happen.
Still, Powell would actually make for a fantastic Batman for the new DC Universe. At 35, the actor fits the age range needed for the role in the DCU. The Brave and the Bold, the Batman reboot film, will see Bruce Wayne find out that he has a son, Damian. In the comics, Damian met Bruce when he was ten years old. Powell would realistically be able to play the father to Damian and the leader of the Bat-Family while also being a younger Batman than Ben Affleck in the DCEU.
Besides being the right age for the role, Powell has both the looks and skills to bring Batman to life in the DCU. With his hair dyed black, Powell would look perfect for Bruce Wayne. The actor's past roles also show how he would make for an interesting choice for the DCU's Batman. Powell's performance in Top Gun: Maverick cemented that he would excel as the playboy persona of the billionaire Bruce Wayne, with his turn in Devotion showing how Glen Powell would do well as the focused and determined vigilante that is Batman.
