Glenn's dad was a huge influence on all the Guist kids. In addition to Glenn and Mitchell were siblings Hubert Guist, Jr., Tonya Guist Reine, and Daniel Guist. According to Mitchell's obituary on dignitymemorial.com, he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Hubert Jr. and Daniel. Tonya ed in 2020, making Glenn the sole remaining member of the Guist family.
Hubert taught his sons how to hunt alligators, and they ended up turning that into a career.
Appearing on reality TV probably wasn't in the game plan, but it didn't hurt Glenn's career. In fact, it helped him gain more recognition and exposure, since Glenn is a beloved cast member.
Glenn's Brother Mitchell Died On The Bayou

Tragedy struck the Guist brothers in 2012. While helping to build a houseboat on the Belle River in Lousiana, Mitchell suffered a medical emergency. He fell into the water, but was rescued and rushed to the hospital. Mitchell was pronounced dead at the scene, and it was later announced Mitchell had suffered a heart attack. He was 47 years old.
Mitchell and Glenn had been ed at the hip since they were kids. Glenn took Mitchell's death very hard. The two had lived together their entire lives, and were so authentically themselves on TV that fans grew to really love the two of them. Glenn continued to appear on Swamp People even after Mitchell's death.
As a tribute to his brother after his death, Glenn completed the houseboat he'd been working on when he died. TMZ reported that Glenn wanted to finish his brother's last project as a tribute to him. The outlet also reported that Glenn was holding up as well as he could, given the circumstances.

Glenn has kept a low profile since last appearing on Swamp People. There's an active Facebook fan page for both Mitchell and Glenn, and in 2023, Swamp People: Glenn and Mitchell Guist Fan Page posted an update about Glenn. The Facebook group also shares photos and updates about Glenn, and based on that, Glenn appears to be doing well.
"We've received a lot of questions about Glenn and how he is doing these days. Glenn has quit smoking (several years ago) and also quit drinking. His health appears good and he gets around hunting and fishing just fine. He still lives in the old family home. The other thing of note about Glenn is that being on TV did not change him at all. He is still the same good-natured, kind, and friendly back country dude he has always been."
There's never been a record of any marriages or children for Glenn, so it's safe to assume he's single, still living on the river, and doing what he loves. Glenn stopped appearing on television in 2018 after Swamp People season 9. His fans still all the joy he brought to their screens, and wish him the best.
