Players have been left on a cliffhanger for four years, but God of War Ragnarök is soon to be released and previews look like the biggest problem from the second era of God of War has been solved this time around. This action-adventure series, set in Norse mythology, is full of beautiful graphics and an involved story that draws players in. However, some players felt that the enemies they were fighting in God of War could have been a little more varied.

Scheduled to release on November 9, 2022, God of War Ragnarök previews have been creating a well-deserved buildup for the game. The 2018 God of War was a phenomenal game in itself with only minor complaints from fans, but one of those criticisms was that more enemy types were needed. Both the variety and the number of basic enemies in the game were lacking on the whole, and it looks as if Ragnarök has corrected the issue.

Santa Monica Studios seems to have heard the disappointment, and early previews have noted that in God of War Ragnarök there is an increased assortment of the lower-level enemies to fight through Kratos and Atreus' latest journey. This not only helps to keep players engaged through interesting combat challenges, but also aids in immersion, with a more lifelike world less reliant on repetition.

Enemies of Norse Legends in God Of War Ragnarök

God of War Ragnarök's enemies have mythological origins stemming from Norse legends. While this is especially true for the bosses that Kratos and Atreus fight in the game, the lesser enemy groups also come from these mythologies. Even the games' human opponents, who could generally be considered to be fairly bland in games of fantastical nature, have special powers to make them unique and memorable.

This edition of the God of War Norse era storyline focuses on Kratos and Atreus facing the coming Ragnarök, which is the legendary Norse apocalypse. The mythological enemies appearing at a time of apocalypse would be overwhelming and striking, and previews have suggested that God of War Ragnarök will provide that feeling for its players.

Reports on Ragnarök claim it is larger than the 2018 God of War game in its overall story and side quests available. Being that this is one of the most highly anticipated games for Playstation, the detail in graphics and scope of the story have been under intense scrutiny from fans and critics alike. However, from everything that has been shown so far, God of War Ragnarök continues to show just how much potential it has to exceed Kratos and Atreus' previous adventure.
