PlayStation 5 owners can own an official God of War Ragnarök DualSense controller, but the odds are it’ll be quite expensive. As the latest incarnation of PlayStation’s signature ‘Dual’ controllers, a regular DualSense already commands a sizable price tag due in part to some of its modern features. One such feature is haptic , which allows for dynamic levels of vibration during events such as petting the giraffe in TLOU Part 1.
It’s no secret that God of War Ragnarök is one of the most highly anticipated games for the PlayStation 5. After the critically acclaimed success of 2018’s God of War and its ambitious reimagining of the franchise, fans have waited patiently to see what was in store for Kratos, his son Atreus, and the angered Norse gods amidst the approach of the fated day of Ragnarök. With the lingering effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic still complicating work environments, the delay of its initial projected release date of 2021 to 2022 was practically unavoidable. A lack of substantial updates from Sony Santa Monica aroused speculation that Ragnarök might also miss its 2022 launch due to lingering issues from the pandemic or other unforeseen complications. Sony would finally dispel those concerns in July 2022, revealing God of War Ragnarök’s release for November 2022, much to the relief of its anxious fanbase.
At the PlayStation September 2022 State of Play, Sony revealed that a special limited edition God of War Ragnarök DualSense will release alongside the game on November 9, 2022. The controller is painted in a two-tone color scheme - blue and white to honor the frigid lands of Midgard. Most notable is the bear and wolf emblazoned upon its touchpad, symbolizing Kratos and Atreus, respectively. While Sony has yet to disclose the price of the controller, it may be rather costly due to the Limited Edition moniker. Sony later confirmed that pre-orders for the God of War Ragnarök DualSense controller will open on September 27.
God Of War Ragnarök's DualSense Controller Looks Worthy Of Midgard
New PS5 controllers bear a hefty price tag of $70 and typically increase to around $75 for different color DualSense controllers like black or red. Given this is the first officially licensed themed DualSense controller released in the PS5's life cycle thus far, it's hard to gauge how much Sony will end up charging for it. The limited availability of the God of War Ragnarök DualSense and its co-branding with one of the biggest PlayStation 5 releases of the year could also factor into the final price point. Thankfully, players might not have to worry about a $100+ price point that many anticipate Sony's new DualSense Edge Controllers to have.
While the hypothetical price might be a tough pill to swallow, it does not make these splendidly designed limited edition DualSense controllers any less pleasant on the eyes. However, because of their high-quality design, there does exist the possibility that these controllers could meet the same fate as the God of War Ragnarök special edition scalper issues. With these impressive new controllers coming up for pre-order in a few weeks, hopefully, they won't be too difficult for fans to acquire due to pricing or availability.
