Warning: This article MAY contain SPOILERS for Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
A new batch of toys for Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah the legendary monster in his first sequel.
Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters is now coming out five years after Edwards' first movie, but it'll set the stage for Adam Wingard's Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailers so far, Godzilla will fight Ghidorah twice; he'll lose the first battle but win the second - and, thanks to a batch of new merchandise, we can deduce how that happens.

Last week, images of Godzilla: King of the Monsters' first real toys started to crop up online, including one that revealed Godzilla's Burning form. While that itself is huge news and quite possibly could hint at Godzilla's death in the MonsterVerse - as Burning Godzilla means the kaiju had been overloaded with nuclear radiation and was, thus, going into meltdown - what's more likely is that Burning Godzilla is just his powerup. Looking at Mothra's Godzilla: King of the Monsters toy, her color also changes from blue to red at some point in the film.
To the uninitiated, Mothra's color change may not mean much, but a rumor has been going around for quite some time now that says Mothra will sacrifice herself in Godzilla from being killed by Ghidorah. (Note that Mothra's connection to Godzilla is already evident by the "eyes" on her wings, which is meant to indicate Godzilla's eyes.) According to the rumor, Mothra will transfer all of her energy into Godzilla, thus reviving him and overloading him with power; therefore, igniting his Burning Godzilla form.
Burning Godzilla is certainly a strong enough form to overpower Ghidorah, and that would make for an epic fight on the big screen - but that doesn't mean it would be the last time audiences see Mothra. Considering Mothra's larva form appears in the King of the Monsters trailer, it's possible she either gives birth to a new Mothra or could somehow be resurrected. In either case, losing Mothra in her first movie would undoubtedly be detrimental to fans, but it may be necessary for Godzilla to win the ultimate battle against Ghidorah.
