Warner Bros. has screened the first footage from Godzilla vs Kong was delayed earlier this year, but in giving fans their first look at the battle, Warner Bros. clearly remains confidant in the property.
The MonsterVerse kicked off with Godzilla vs Kong's release date was pushed back to November 2020.
During their at Brazil's Comic Con Experience, though, Warner Bros. shared the first footage of Godzilla vs. Kong during a sizzle reel of their films. In one shot (via Moshosite), Godzilla and Kong can be seen engaging in an epic brawl. It's also pretty clear the two Titans are now nearly the exact same, towering size. Check it out:
It's been pointed out before that Godzilla, who as of the King of the Monsters is 393 feet tall, Kong certainly had some growing to do. Judging by these glimpses of their forthcoming throwdown in Godzilla vs. Kong, though, he's been eating his Wheaties.
The end of Godzilla: King of the Monsters saw Godzilla take his place as Alpha over all the other Titans on Earth. He accomplishes this by defeating, Ghidorah, who it's revealed was an alien creature and therefor a false Alpha, anyway. With the balance restored, it isn't yet known what will cause Godzilla and Kong to come to blows. Perhaps it's just that at upon reaching adulthood, Kong seeks out the most powerful Titan and challenges it? Or perhaps it's a more contrived meeting, possible made to happen by the Monarch or some other outside force? With Godzilla vs. Kong pushed back to roughly a year from now, and Warner Bros. just barely teasing the film in sizzle reel, it may yet be a while before we know anymore.
