In a speaking event at Good Omens season 2. While Gaiman avoided revealing specific details about what happened to Gabriel, the author stated that Hamm's character suffers a number of incidents at the hands of others throughout season 2. Check out Gaiman's full response below:

"There are things that I have done to Jon Hamm, or have other people do, or that have happened to Jon Hamm in the second season of Good Omens that while I’m not at liberty to actually reveal what they are, I will say that I’m in many ways glad he’s not sitting opposite me."

What Gaiman's Response Could Mean For Gabriel In Good Omens Season 2

There is a great deal of mystery surrounding Good Omens, as the six-episode season 2 is based on previously unseen notes for a potential sequel to the original novel. While audiences could read the original novel before season 1 aired and become familiar with Aziraphale and Crowley's story, season 2 is uncharted territory. However, while details on Good Omen season 2's new characters and events may be currently kept under wraps, Gabriel's increased involvement can offer some insight.

In the original Good Omens novel, the forces of Heaven are led by Metatron (Derek Jacobi), while Gabriel is a character who only existed in early drafts for a proposed sequel, "Good Omens. 668—The Neighbour of the Beast." However, the television series instead elevated Gabriel as a key player in the potential conflict between Heaven and Hell, overseeing Aziraphale's duties and being one of the figures involved in punishing the angel following his and Crowley's intervention in the apocalypse. With Gabriel's increased involvement, Gabriel could have been tasked with bringing Aziraphale into custody once more following his and Crowley's complex but narrow escape from being destroyed by their respective sides.

With Gaiman hyping the series, there is eager anticipation for Good Omens season 2's trailer. Gabriel's outwardly upbeat personality barely hid his malevolent streak, often making him a character audiences could easily loathe. This leaves much speculation about season 2 and what this means for the archangels as he tries to disrupt Aziraphale and Crowley's lives on Earth.
