WB Games Montreal’s Batman reboot was just shown at DC’s FanDome event earlier today, presided over by Shazam! star and longtime gamer Zachary Levi.
Pitched as a continuity reboot of Rocksteady's critically-acclaimed previously rumored Court Of Owls are shown conducting their own plans for Gotham City, plans that involve seemingly feral enforcers called Talons. Following the Gotham Knights gameplay trailer at today’s DC FanDome, WB Montreal’s developers answered some fan questions alongside Zachary Levi. During one of these answers, the developers revealed that the game will be introducing co-op gameplay to the Batman Arkham formula for the first time in series history. Indeed, the gameplay footage shown seems to this notion, featuring occasional use of split-screen as Batgirl and Robin team up to take on Mr. Freeze.
WB Montreal's Gotham Knights is only the first video game being unveiled at today's DC FanDome event, as Rocksteady will provide fans with a deeper look at its own new title, ' Cheetah in her final form at the beginning of the show.
Gotham Knights has an intriguing concept, and the idea of Batman’s former protégés teaming up to carry on protecting Gotham in the Dark Knight’s place lends itself well to a multiplayer formula. Players will be able to team up with their friends to take down the Court Of Owls when Gotham Knights is released sometime next year.
Gotham Knights will be available in 2021.
