Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to bring a host of improvements to the series' single-player, but there's one part of GTA Online that it could make even cooler. All GTA games parody pop culture in one way or another whether it's through dialogue, cinematics, or locations. One classic action movie trope has managed to avoid the franchise for years, however, and has the potential to make for some hilarious moments with friends.

For a series all about shootouts and robbing cars, it's astounding that there has never been a “Hey kid take the wheel!” feature added to any of the games. Rumors have indicated that GTA 6's cars will be like RDR2's horses, but a much more minor feature like being able to let a enger take the wheel would arguably provide even more enjoyment. Giving players the ability to allow a friend to drive while they focus their attention on shooting could lead to some fascinating vehicular gunfights. In scenarios where a car to the player’s left is firing at them, letting the enger take over isn’t just cinematically appealing, but it's also more functional. The driver will have a better shot on the opposing vehicle than the enger, so having them take over just makes sense. From a gameplay perspective, this addition could change players’ strategies when approaching gun battles on the road.

GTA 6's Car Chases Should Let engers Take The Wheel

GTA Online summer update for Grand Theft Auto V, adding new cars and races.

GTA Online challenges like heists, players could compete against one another to see who has mastered the new feature the most.

Since players can hand the wheel to engers they could also have the option to jump out of the car and onto an adjacent one similar to Uncharted. With how creative custom GTA Online modes can be, having a car leap frog game mode doesn’t seem impossible. All it would need is a wide road with as many cars that could be driven side by side. The challenge would pit players against one another to see how many cars they can jump to and the one with the most successful jumps wins. Being able to hijack another player's car on the move would be perfect for GTA 6, although Rockstar would have to be careful to ensure it could only be accomplished at certain speeds.

Besides everything revealed in GTA 6 leaks, little in the way of information has been shared. Considering the fact that the series has less needed yet hysterical features like “flipping the bird” at other players, adding the ability to give engers the wheel while driving in Grand Theft Auto 6 doesn’t seem so far-fetched.
