A new concept trailer for GTA 6 is set in a fictional Miami and will feature two protagonists inspired by Bonnie and Clyde - one of whom will be a Latina woman.
Last week, a Bloomberg report by Jason Schreier gave players their first official news surrounding the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6's protagonists, as well as news of the series returning to Florida for the first time since GTA: Vice City and GTA: Vice City Stories. Apparently, Rockstar reportedly had larger-scale plans for the title, including four playable protagonists and a map that covered large portions of North and South America, but these are alleged to have been scaled back during development. There is no current release date for GTA 6, but there's an expectation that it will release in late 2023 at the absolute earliest.
TeaserPlay, who has become known for their GTA concept trailers that have included remakes of titles such as GTA: Vice City and GTA: San Andreas, ed a concept trailer to their YouTube channel to imagine what Grand Theft Auto 6 could look like based on the details provided in Bloomberg's report. The concept for TeaserPlay's trailer is closer to the original Project Americas plan and used Unreal Engine 5 to create a new-gen take on Vice City, San Fierro, Las Venturas, and Liberty City, with the latter being used for a time-hopping twist that took the series from present-day back to 1986.
GTA 6 Fan Trailer Shows A Time-Traveling Grand Theft Auto Story
The GTA series is no stranger to period pieces, and while GTA 4 and GTA 5 take place in modern settings, GTA: Vice City paid homage to 80s movies and TV shows such as Miami Vice and Scarface with a story set in 1986, while GTA: San Andreas took place in 1992. Although the Bloomberg report never indicated that Grand Theft Auto 6 would take place across multiple time periods, it would be interesting to see the series making a return to this idea with GTA 6's additional location content showing its well-known cities over the ages, and how different types of criminals may have been more dominant dependant on the era.
Despite fans finally knowing some details surrounding GTA 6, there is still a lot that has yet to be revealed by Rockstar. With Grand Theft Auto 6 in active development and the developer moving resources away from the now-dead RDR2 multiplayer mode, Red Dead Online, in order to focus on it, hopefully, there will be more official reveals soon.
