Following the June 30 release date announcement for GreedFall's current-gen update, PS Plus subscribers were, naturally, curious as to whether they could access the PS5 upgrade. The official GreedFall Twitter (via Push Square) told one inquiring that PS Plus' iteration of the RPG will not be "eligible for the free the PS5 version." This is especially interesting since the confirmed elsewhere that Xbox Game ' GreedFall version will  the upgrade path.

Why one service grants access to the upgrade path while another doesn't remains a mystery at present. However, PlayStation platforms aren't strangers to this kind of occurrence. Some may recall that when Final Fantasy VII Remake hit PS Plus in March, Sony made it clear the PS5 upgrade would not apply to that particular version. Similarly, Marvel's Avengers on PS Now couldn't take advantage of the game's PS5 boosts. These various examples suggest the issue may lie with Sony and not third-party game publishers.

Good news should be on the horizon for PS Plus subscribers, though. Over the next couple of days, PlayStation will likely unveil the July 2021 PlayStation Plus lineup; rumor has it that titles such as Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and WRC 9 may headline the selection.
