Developer Spiders and publisher Focus Home Interactive have confirmed that GreedFall launched in 2019 to widespread acclaim.
A role-playing title with plenty to offer, GreedFall drops players onto a remote island teeming with treasure, magic, and a host of bizarre creatures. Players can align themselves with factions and companions or betray them altogether; either way, a path will be forged that shapes the destiny of the newly discovered world. And legions of fans have already made their mark on the previously uncharted territory, creating characters who achieve their goals through diplomacy, brute force, guile, or deception. Fortunately for those eager to revisit the magical land, Spiders has yet another new adventure on the way.
Publisher GreedFall's PS5 and Xbox Series X|S upgrades. Notably, the company confirmed the free updates will launch on June 30, along with the release of the Gold Edition and The De Vespe Conspiracy expansion. (Note: GreedFall's Gold Edition packs in the main game and story expansion.) The upgrade will allow PS4 and Xbox One players who already own the RPG to transfer their save data to the new consoles. Meanwhile, the enhancements themselves include up to 4K resolution boosts, faster loading speeds, "highly improved visuals," and 60fps gameplay in Performance Mode.
The De Vespe Conspiracy takes place in an unexplored region on Teer Fradee, where players will unlock new gear, face previously unseen fantastical creatures, and go head-to-head against an antagonistic faction not present in GreedFall's mainline story. In the expansion, a web of lies stands in the way of the protagonist's unraveling a "nefarious conspiracy," one that poses a great threat to the current balance of power.
Current-gen upgrades and story DLC will no doubt entice newcomers to the sprawling adventure, which could very well add to the RPG's already impressive sales numbers. Within roughly a year of its release on PC and consoles, the title had shifted an impressive one million units worldwide.
GreedFall's performance on the market proved a massive boon for publisher Focus Home, as well. Driven by the success of World War Z, A Plague Tale: Innocence, and GreedFall, all of which launched in 2019, the independent French publisher has experienced a world of financial growth in the last couple of years.
GreedFall is out now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One; the upgrades for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S arrive on June 30, alongside The De Vespe Conspiracy.
