TV and film have seen plenty of archers over the years, and when it comes to the DC and Marvel universes, Green Arrow and Hawkeye.
While Stephen Amell and Jeremy Renner may never cross paths as their characters on-screen, it hasn’t stopped the respective fandoms to make fun of the archer debate. Whether the debate will ever come to a conclusion remains to be seen. In all fairness, both Oliver and Clint have their ups and downs. But thanks to the fans all over the world, there is so much to laugh at when it comes to these respective comic book archers.
What About Legolas
As Green Arrow conquered the small-screen for The Avengers for multiple MCU films. But as each phase has gone by, Hawkeye's role has definitely gotten bigger within the MCU. When his Disney Plus series finally arrives, it'll be the first time Clint ever gets the full spotlight in live-action.
But another fictional archer that has seemingly been forgotten over the years is Legolas from the Lord of the Rings franchise. Why isn't he involved in this massive archer debate?
How Marvel Possibly Shaded DC
Months before premiering their 8th season, The CW revealed that Arrowverse, it was bittersweet to see the series come to an end after all these years. However, almost exactly a month later, the MCU revealed something big, but also sort of hilarious given the timing.
As Arrow revealed that it would end in the coming season, Disney decided to put Hawkeye into development. Although, several months later, Green Arrow and the Canaries was announced to be in development which would also feature a female archer in the lead through Mia Queen.
An Archer’s Biggest Struggle
An archer's two most important tool is, and always will be, a bow and as many arrows as possible. However, a trope that continues to happen on-screen is whenever an archer eventually runs out of arrows at the most inconvenient time ever. Oliver and Clint are no exceptions as they have each had this problem happen to them on-screen. Although their respective responses to being out of arrows would be quite hilarious, especially if it was like this meme.
If The Atom Really Wanted To Hurt Oliver
When the Arrowverse introduced The Atom, their interpretation of Ray Palmer came with a very big difference, compared to the comics. His Atom suit reminded a lot of viewers of Iron Man when it was initially revealed. It was probably not their intention, but what was done was done.
If Oliver really wanted to mess with Ray, he could have just mockingly called him Iron Man when seeing him in the suit. But likewise, with Ray, he could have called Oliver the one name he probably never wants to be called.
The Battle Of Screen-Presence
It's probably safe to say that Oliver and Clint wouldn't get along that well, at least when first meeting each other. Despite their differences, they do have similar witty and bantering behavior. If they ever did cross paths on screen, whether it be on TV or in the films, they'd likely trash-talk each other from the get-go. Clint would likely find it amusing that Green Arrow has yet to appear in the DCEU. But had he said that back in 2013, Oliver would have been able to use the ultimate comeback at him.
How Civil War Should Have Happened
Captain America: Civil War was, without a doubt, one of the most intense and important chapters of Phase 3 before going into the final chapter of the Infinity Saga. It shook everything up within the Avengers, including Tony and Steve being on opposite sides. This set the tone for the rest of the third phase before the two-part finale.
However, an alternative version of the Captain America sequel could have been the best time to settle the Green Arrow/Hawkeye debate. Would Steve be Team Hawkeye while Tony would go all in for Oliver?
Anyone Who Doesn’t Follow The Debate
Comic book debates can always get very intense, especially if it has been going on for years and years. But for a non-comic book reader, what would that look like out of context? Imagine someone walking past a duo arguing who is better between Oliver and Clint. If the debate got insanely intense, this meme is probably how an outside person would react to the whole topic.
From Brat To Hawkeye Hater
The CW version of Oliver Queen made it clear at the start that before being shipwrecked, he was a very typical playboy billionaire. But, as he kept saying in his recurring monologue, after spending 5 years in hell, he became something else. While Oliver ended up as a literal savior of the Multiverse in the latest crossover, what if he became something else when he initially returned in 2012? Why not go from messy rich boy to vigilante who also happens to hate Hawkeye?
Three Arrows Are Better Than One
Any fictional archer that you have seen over the last decade or so has always made drawing an arrow look incredibly cool. If the respective studios would ever make it possible for an ultimate archer-crossover, that would be quite something. But as fascinating as drawing one arrow can look, why only draw one when you can draw three? That's probably what Oliver would say if he met them.
The Best Prank To Pull On Oliver
It's a shame that Arrow, set in a franchise that mentioned Marvel characters multiple times, never could work in a Hawkeye reference at least once. It'd have been quite something if Oliver reacted to reading about this fictional archer. But for unknown reasons, it simply never happened during the show's 8-season run.
However, this meme makes it even more frustrating that they never even worked in a Hawkeye prank at the very least. Imagine seeing Oliver finding his bow that suddenly has the name "Hawkeye" engraved on it. If they had also made his archer costume purple, that would have been a sweet bonus.
